Emotional manipulation how sad it is

Sometimes I have to remember all the emotional manipulation my ex put me through to be able to move on.  I really did not knew how bad I was until one day I literally started almost hearing the gears in my head about to go crazy.  It was like this:  "Of course I want to go back to school, you know you have my support....but dont study that....and look for a place where you can study for free....and what hours are you going to study?"  I literally felt deflated and end up not going back to school.  Or when I was very deep in depression:  "Why don't you look for help?  I hate people who don't look for help when they need it!"  And then when I went to a therapist his answer was:  "You went where? (laughing and pointing)  "Where did you find him in the yellow pages? (I did)  "You will not disscuss me in this sessions and it better be free because am not paying for it"!  The last time I reminded he told me he was always there for me I reminded him about this.  His reaction:  "What do you expect?
My life is different now.  I guess I should be grateful because I learned I won't let myself to be emotionally manipulated like that, ever.
But he tries to manipulate our daughter, since we are divorce now he is telling her is was all my fault.  That makes me very angry.  He won't change.  But is her father and I hate seen the effect it has on her.  Am in a hard place.  She knows he is lying, sad part after more than 3 months without seen her he uses the time with her to bash me!  Sad, really sad.

Wow....your ex sounds like a very cold, cruel hearted man. I\'m so sorry you had to endure his abuse. I feel even sorrier for your poor daughter, children always suffer the most from a divorce. Especially when parents can not act like civil human beings. Take Care

Mmmm....I am very sorry to read this. Not to sure what to tell you I\'m afriad. Mabye you should get in touch with your daughter and spend some time with her. Try to tell her it wasn\'t your fault. Though there are different ways to tell children at different ages. -hugs-

Regardless of why the marriage ended, they ALL tend to re-write history. I am sure your daughter knows the truth. And I hope that she is old enough and wise enough to let his version go in one ear and out the other.
But you already said it yourself -- YOU CANNOT CHANGE HIM. You can only change yourself. Take the focus OFF him and put it on YOU -- where it belongs. That\'s the best way to keep moving forward.
