Embie Update & Quick Rant

I heard from my RE today - we have 2 good quality embies that made it to the freezing stage!!! I think these are called frosties now? Or is that when they are thawed? Still learning some of the IVF lingo :) Sadly, my 3rd little embie never made it - I was hoping it would fight but it just never developed. But, I'm going to focus on the positive that given my age and my mini protocol, we managed to get 4 eggs and 2 embies. Not to mention, we are a lot further in this IF battle than we've ever been before, and that progress gives me hope. I've decided I will be cautiously optimistic. I think we are going to do another mini cycle right away and see if we can get more embies to freeze before I do my gallbladder surgery. If all goes well, we might be able to transfer in June.
And on an entirely separate note, I have a quick rant about something that annoyed me that I figured I might as well share here...I know you ladies will probably understand and not judge this :) So quick backstory: my brother in law recently got engaged and he and his fiance are soooo into having kids, its pretty much all they talk about, which I'm ashamed to say, annoys the crap out of me. They talk about "when" and have it all on a time schedule as if they have control over this. I find it super annoying because, hello, as we all know, it doesn't freaking work that way!!! (well, maybe for some women). Anyway, I try and ignore this because I can get myself too worked up. But, they are getting married this year and I already know they will be trying immediately (I have heard all about their plans with their kids). DH and I have kept our immediate families in the loop with our IF struggles, they all know we've been TTC for over 2 years, had 3 failed IUIs and much sadness. Yesterday I was emailing with my sister in law, who I love to tears, she is awesome, but she mentioned in her email that she is saving clothes (she has a girl and boy - the sweetest, most precious niece and nephew that I adore) for me and my other future sister in law...ugh. Now, this might sound like a no big deal comment, she is only being generous afterall, but somehow this comment got under my skin. I told DH that if my future SIL gets pregnant before us, the shits gonna hit the fan for me. I realize I either sound a bit unbalanced here, or I just sound like a woman suffering from IF. The sad thing is that people who don't suffer from IF hardly ever "get it" and probably just think I'm being a bitch if I talk this way outside of DS.

My friend sold her maternity clothes even though she knew 2 close friends of hers were trying and we both had miscarriages around the same time. She was all \'I wish I\'d known you were going to get pregnant, I had really nice clothes\' and I was all \'you crazy lady, you knew we were both trying!\' Sigh.
As for the embies, we had 2 freeze too, great numbers! Especially for a mini cycle. :-)

Sorry to hear that embie #3 didn\'t make it but glad to hear that two others did :-)
Now to get this gallbladder surgery done. My BIL just had it done (emergency) a few months ago and is doing very well!!!! So best of luck with that.
And I think we all have family members that we\'d like to rant about.......I\'m also having difference of opinions with my SIL right now......hang in there.....I rememember the heartache I also experienced with IF and hearing all about people talking about pregnancy like it was super easy, etc.......HUGS to you!!!

So glad for your embies and your frosties! Sounds like this mini IVF will be the ticket to your BFP!! As for your SIL, I would have gotten annoyed also. You have earned those hand me down baby clothes and the other chick should not get them so easily, lol.

Ah ignorance is bliss!!! I was going to have 4 kids b/c I was going to marry at 23 and start TTC at 27. Then this thing called life happened - I got married at 33 and didn\'t have a kid (through IVF mind you) until I was 40. Turns out IVF is our only way for kids. Sad to say they will either be the lucky few who actually get life the way they plan it, or they will be in our boat.
I think you are human and what you are feeling is normal about if your SIL gets there before you. Hopefully that won\'t happen, but if it does and you feel like shit hitting the fan, then by all means. One thing I\'ve learned is we\'ve got to own and allow our feelings to then be able to move on.

CONGRATULATIONS on the 2 embies!!!! That\'s great for a mini cycle!! Hey that\'s great for any cycle we never had any to freeze!

First I\'m doing a happy dance at work for your two embries. I think 50% is a great result.
I think it\'s normal to be mad at your SIL over this. It would also suck if your future SIL got her BFP before you. We don\'t control these things and I know youdon\'t wish that she have IF issues too, it would just be nice for you to get there before her.

Yay! 2 frosties is great! I understand you\'ll be frustrated and upset if your SIL gets to have a baby before you. That\'s one of those painful realities of IF. Deep down, there\'s a selfish part of us that wishes everyone else we know would put their lives on hold too, just so it wouldn\'t hurt so bad or be unfair when their lives go according to plan and ours don\'t. Obviously, that can\'t and won\'t happen, and we know in our heart of hearts that people aren\'t getting knocked up just to spite us. But it can feel that way. What you feel is real, and it\'s your own. Some of the IF feelings are downright scary and make us feel even more awful for feeling them. But it\'s part of the process. Like aboveda said, you have to let the feeling happen, and then work on moving past it. But if you bottle it up or lie about it, it will fester and make things worse. Hopefully, you won\'t ever need to be there. Fingers crossed for another successful mini and an easy surgery to get you on the road to mommyhood!

Congrats on the 2 frosties!!!! Yay!!!!
As for \"the situation\". The comment would\'ve upset me too, although I am sure she had no intention of upsetting you. It\'s normal for you to feel the way your feeling. It\'s IF and those who don\'t have it will never understand how hard it is for us. I\'m sorry. The best thing to do in these situations is cry it out and do something special for yourself. I firmly believe while going through IF we have full permission to spoil ourselves rotten.
On a positive note I think your plan is great. Doing another mini IVF you\'ll have more frosties, which means more chances. I\'ll be rooting for you!

Oh man I completely get this. I wanted so badly for DH and I have have the first grand baby for my parents, but my baby sister got pregnant her first month trying with her deadbeat loser husband. They now have a 9 month old and are struggling to make ends meet and I\'m sure my parents pay for most of their living expenses. My brother inlaw just got married in Dec, so I\'m sure we will soon hear that they\'re expecting. BLAH! I try and remind myself that it\'s a baby/family I\'m after and that these crazy \"rules\" that I\'ve set up are just that, crazy! I completely get how you\'re feeling though as I\'ve felt these exact feelings: if that bitch gets preg before me I\'m gonna lose my mind!!! I think that it hits a bit too close to home when it\'s family who are getting pregnant when we all have been trying so so long.

On another side note, two very big thumbs up for your embies, frosties, whatever they\'re called ;) I hope you\'re able to have your surgery and have them babies transferred ;) looking forward to your updates!!!

WHOO HOO Mrs. 43! I love t hat 50 % made it! You are going to kick IF in the ass and make us \"seniors\" look good! Congrats!
As for your story.....I TOTALLY get it and WOULD totally flip out if my soon to be sis-in-law got pregnant first after all you have been through. Hell I am already have panic attacks about friends of DH that are younger (he is 39 and she is 29) who are getting married this October and I just KNOW will be pregnant the night of the wedding! It sucks and there is no way around that. Cry, get mad, throw something! LOL You are totally normal (well as far as IF is concerned! LOL). Love ya and hope things start looking up! Focus on your IVF victories!

Congratulations on the two Frosties (I also like the term Totsicles, lol)!!!! That is a HUGE accomplishment. I also think its smart to do another mini cycle right away if possible and bank as many embies as possible before a transfer. As for the baby race, I TOTALLY understand. My 24 year old brother got married in January (missed it b/c of an ectopic pregnancy, grrrrr) and while he and his wife aren\'t trying to have kids until they finish medical school, I know I will be absolutely devastated if they get preggo before I do. Its totally natrual....not that that makes it any easier, lol

I totally understand... You deserve to have your baby first!!!! It\'s not fair that people just think they can float through life and have exactly what they want.

I was supposed to have the first girl for my husbands parents, but she obviously didnt make it because of the preterm labor and now my SIL is going to have a little girl in a month. Her third, not fair!

But that said I think you are going to be coasting!!! Gallbladder surgery and then a transfer and you\'re on track to have your little one first! Big hug and congrats on the frosties!

Thanks, everyone for your support! I knew I could count on you all to remind me I\'m (mostly) sane and that freaking IF brings up these craptastic feelings.
