Elective Amputation
Looking for answers...need a doctor for elective amputation of a dead leg, has anyone done this? Our doctors want to keep the leg and just leave it in a plactic brace forever to drag around, its an anchor and burdrn. Amputation and training with a prosthetic could restore quality of life and mt father could walk without a cane or even run again someday. I am asking all over for months now but only find dead ends and people saying "no" but I cant accept that...does anyone know anything?? Anything helps. Thank you and god bless!

*Previous Medical Issues:
9-29-2000 was the date of work related injury, which caused herniated disc and spinal damage. Treatment attempts resulted in a total of 8 spinal surgeries between 2001-2005, of which 5 were on lumbar and 3 on cervical. Implants were used to take pressure of spinal cord which is crushed in those 2 spots. Currently 13 major and 73 minor muscles that dont work at all (cant move/feel left leg below knee which also causes drop foot, and can't turn head/neck to right). Also had Gastric Cancer in 2008, but cured in 2009 and continues yearly checks. Individual makes daily efforts with exercise to maintain fitness and is able to walk with minimal assistance to drag left leg despite multiple doctors telling him he would never walk again.
***Our Question: We want to find a doctor for amputation of dead leg (left side, below knee) because drop foot makes walking difficult and stairs/running/etc is impossible. A prosthetic leg would greatly improve quality of life and make it possible to intensify gym workouts focused strength building.
