Election results & the old cat

It's the day after and Mom is crying over the election results. She is so heart broken. Personally I think it was rigged because they called it so early when only a few polls had closed over on the East Coast. Hawaii's was still open! We were just leaving the house to go vote and on tv they were saying that Obummer was pretty much the winner. Same thing happened last time. I think tv stations should stop doing that because it sways voters... but then again, they probably do it on purpose. We already know those guys are paid for by the Obummer adm, do they have to make it so obvious?
In other news....
Jeff's 17 yr old cat, Claw, is driving us up the wall. My husband loves him but we can't stand him. All day long "MEOW! MEOW! MEOW! MEOOOOW!!!!!!! MEOOOOW!..." He barely takes a breath between there. And the cat is deaf so he doesn't hear how annoying he can be. You give him food and still "MEOOW!! MEOWW! MEEEOW!!..." You sit with him... "MEEEOW! MEOW! MEOW MEOWW!.." try giving him milk "MEOW! MEOW! MEOW!!" He stopped bathing hims self like almost a yr ago... so he smells terrible and every where he goes in the house he leaves behind a terrible stench. He is missing half his teeth and drools all day long. Not dripping drool, the drool that just hangs there 6" long and sticks to everything. And his drool smells bad, sometimes it's bloody because Claw picks at his jaw a lot. He had oral surgery a few weeks ago to have some teeth removed. So before that the drool had puss. Claw drools on himself so  Claw himself is sticky, too. We have bathed him a few times but he still smells. The house smells, the furniture smells. We are tearing out the carpeting all along the entire up stairs because of this cat. My allergies have gone nuts because of him. But it goes in one ear and out the other with Jeff.
Mom has had an ulcer on her leg since spring and it's gotten infected several times with things like staph, ecoli, etc.... and Claw hangs out on all the furniture she sits on. So we came to the conclusion since he is an unsanitary cat he should stay out side. But Jeff let's him inside at night he says because I let MY cat's in at night it's only fair that HIS cat comes in, too. I've tried arguing that my cats are far more sanitary than his but it's gotten nowhere and he accuses me of "favoring" cats in the house when all should be treated equal. RIGGGHT. Mom's dislike for Claw is growing into something beyond a simple dislike. And I'm about to tell to Jeff to pick between the cat or me.

Awww! So Sorry all this is going on! Thats a lot of stress going on, even the cat is stressed, what does the Vet. say about all this meowing and not wanting to clean it self anymore, wow 17 years old, talk about cat\'s and 9-lives! Claw sounds like it\'s in pain?
He just sounds very miserable. You say your poor mama contacted staph! That is such a serious infection! as you know.
My goodness...Seems like if the cat thing was in order everything would be a little better? I just keep thinking the way Claw is meowing it\'s like he is in misery of some sort- abcess-staph? Have you been with this Vet a long time? Is Claw eating- drinking and voiding normal? because this 6-inch bloody drool is concerning. What does the vet say about that?
I would ask him if such infections could be exsisting in Claw, maybe the vet missed something like another tooth that\'s bad or some sort of another infection? out of concern for your mothers infected ulcer her well being and also Claws well being. Abcess are very foul smelling. Good Luck... I hope the meowing turns into purring very soon for you
I will keep you in Thoughts & Prayers.

angels2u... we have taken Claw to the vet about a month ago because he needed many teeth taken out that were rotten or falling out. His jaw was swollen back then and since he has had the teeth out his jaw looks a lot better. 17 yrs old is very old very any animal... most people I know their cats don\'t live past 15, only one guy i\'ve heard of that told me his cat lived to be 22. My theory is that Claw is meowing non stop for several seasons.... 1. he lives in a new environment with not only new people but also new cats (and Claw has never been good at adjusting to a move plus he does not get along well with other cats), 2. he isn\'t used to being shoved out side all day (he had free roam of the house all his life, 3. he was used to eating regular cat food and now he has to DRINK liquid food plus formula (if he gives up on the liquid food then he wont have any options and well we all know what happens when you stop eating).... there are probably more reasons for his meowing... maybe his jaw does still bother him. He is very old and I wouldn\'t be surprised if he has aches and pains, too. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers! Take care! hugs and have a happy Christmas!

bluemoon.... my mom keeps saying exactly THAT. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! :)
