Eddie's Earth Birthday
Hello my friends,
Ed's earth birthday was last Friday, September 22nd. My granddaughter & her family came by, my former daughter in law & her two young kids from a relationship she was in & Ken & me. No drama from my daughter in law this time (she had started some drama on Ed's angel date on 9/4) but she was sober & was fine on his birthday. My grandson Joshua couldn't come by - his daughter was sick. He felt guilty because he couldn't make it. Our yearly tradition is that I make Ed's favorite spice cake & we sing "happy birthday" to him & reminisce. I assured Josh that he has nothing to feel guilty about. If his Dad was alive &Josh's daughter was sick he wouldn't make it to the party either. But Josh was feeling bad & when he called we both had some tears.
Both of Eddie's kids have done a great job keeping Ed front & center in their families. All of my great grandchildren know of him, recognize him in pictures & call him Papa. They bring flowers, cards etc to his grave. At Ed's party Christina's 4 year old daughter said, "We love you Papa and stay good and safe in Heaven." How cute!
So all in all a good gathering but of course, this is not how I envisioned celebrating Ed's birthday. Bittersweet moments for sure. I know my SOTHS know what I mean.
Love to all
XO XO Linda and Ed too! ♡

No, not the celebration we want, but so thankful to be able to share these days with family. It sounds like a wonderful day and I just love what the little one said!!! So sweet'
Tightest of heart hugs precious friend.
I think it is wonderful, the way you keep Ed's memory alive. I also admire the tradition of having his favorite cake, served on his birthday, along with shared memories.

Out of the mouth of babes about Papa staying safe and well in heaven. He's got that one covered for sure. :) Happy to hear how Ed's birthday unfolded and I too really like making one of Douglas' favorite deserts on his day. It takes me back when I'm making something how it felt when he was earth side and I never want to forget that feeling.
Huge exhales after moving through both of these tender days indeed.
Love to Ed and to you, his forever mom dearest Linda.

Ed's day sounds like it was beautiful filled with memories of Ed and had moments of peace. I love that "papa staying safe & well in heaven" - how sweet is that! It's what we pray for, right?
As those days approach and then pass until another year always makes me exhale deeply and take baby steps toward another year without our kids.
I so enjoyed talking with you - your insight and words of wisdom gave me comfort. Thank you. Vicki
Linda, what a Great way to celebrate your Eddie's birthday. I wish we lived close. I feel like we would be good friends and could share so much about our sons, Jeff and Eddie. Tight hugs to you...Nell
Now back from camping vacation and trying to catch up. It sounds like it was a beautiful tribute to your precious Ed. Sending love, Leda
I cannot get family together for Mikes birthday. Mike's favorite was apple pie and ice cream. To this day we do pie and ice cream.
Tradition is good to fall back on.
Hugs Penny
