Eating Disorder?
I've had an eating disorder in the past. In high school, I was a runner and was running and walking about 20-30 miles a week. I was also starving myself for days at a time. I managed to lose a lot of weight and get a great body (for me at least) but it wasn't worth it. I don't know how I got out of the cycle of starving myself, but I did somehow. Now I'm thinking that I'm doing it again. I'm not going for days without food anymore, but eating less calories than I should now. I've been eating about 1,050 calories a day more or less for months. I've been trying to get over 1,200 calories which is the minimum that I should be eating, but I just can't seem to. I don't know what to do about this. I know it's a problem, and it has the potential to be a big one.
I've lost so much weight, and it's hard to think that I've been doing it the wrong way the whole time. I thought I was doing everything right. I've been eating right, exercising, and doing strength training. I don't know when it started becoming a problem. I think it slowly built up over time. That, or when I was stuck at a certain weight at the beginning of my journey, I think I started unconsciously started not getting hungry. I don't eat lunch for the most part anymore.... that's a new development. I think that started about 2-3 months ago. Maybe less. I don't know. It's hard to think back when every day seems the same. I would eat lunch when I got home from work, around 5pm I would fix myself some ramen and then I would cook dinner at 6. Now I'm still cooking dinner at 6, but I'm not hungry when I get home.
What do you do when you are not hungry? I've been having trouble with acid, and so I took an acid pill today and that seemed to help. Today was one of the first days in a while (besides the buffet day) that I managed to get in my calories. I also feel bad, since we don't have a lot of money for food, so I don't want to eat food that we can't afford. I haven't been in the mood for a lot of food, either. I eat my dinner, but most nights I just eat it, I don't enjoy it. It doesn't help that we were eating the same thing for dinner every night for 4 years and just started changing it up so we don't know what we want. It was much easier when I would know what to make at night and my body would know what was coming. Now I'm trying all these different foods, and they don't seem good. But I don't want to go back to what I was eating before.
I just don't know what to do... Do I have an eating disorder again? I know I'm borderline. I don't see how I could restrict any more... I'm actually adding food into my diet. I added back in my morning coffee, which I had been not drinking for a while. I add cream and sugar, so it's added calories. When I go to work I have 2 cups, when I stay home I have 1 cup. I have an extra cup when I go to work so I can have something to drink at work. I've been trying to drink milk, too, and other small things. I've been trying to meet my calories, but something inside of me doesn't want to. I think it's something I really need to talk to my therapist about. I was just going to mention it as a side thing, but I think that the session should be about it.
Mood today was okay... I'm not hypomanic, I'm in a mixed episode. I didn't sleep well last night... I tossed and turned and was awake for a couple hours in the middle of the night. I had to take some klonopin to get back to sleep since nothing was working. I just couldn't get comfy. I've been dealing with ups and downs all day. I went for a walk, and while I was doing my walk out (away from home, trying to figure out how much farther to go) I couldn't decide to keep walking ahead and do more distance or keep sitting at the bus stop (I had stopped to take a break) and take the bus home. Eventually I didn't do either and just got up and walked home. I walked 2 miles today. It took me a long time... I stopped by the clinic on the way home to pick up Geo's Prozac. I just think that the mixed energy running through me confused me. I got home and tried to lie down for a nap, but couldn't get comfy again. Geo was trying to nap, so I went out to the couch. That didn't work, so I cooked dinner instead. Now I'm getting ready to have another long night... I don't feel at rest again, so I don't think tonight is going to be a good night, but we will see!

Just a couple thoughts since we was talking about this in IM earlier... the return of ED thinking i wonder if it has to do with you being off or meds and now back on them and your body is trying to readjust to it all... just a thought... or if you dealing with some stressful issues from your past in therapy that might be triggering the old ways of thinking and coping too. Just thought id bring it up .. i might be way off on it all but whatever is causing it its smart to talk to your therapist before it gets totally out of control... huggggzzzz
