Early Wednesday Morning - Another Gorgeous Day!
It's going to be another gorgeous September day here in Maryland...and a special day. The Man of My Dreams will turn 57 and I have a small surprise in store for him. This evening we are going for dinner at the restaurant where we first met on August 29, 2007. We go there often, as the food is good and the place has very special significance for us. Anyway, a couple who are long-time friends of mine, are coming here to the house to meet us at 6:00 p.m. and we will drive to the restaurant together. What Tom doesn't know is that there are other mutual friends who are going to be joining us for dinner! And my cousin (who is a fantastic cook) is baking a Red Velvet Cake for Tom's birthday. I haven't yet figured out how I am going to transport the cake to the restaurant without Tom's knowledge, but I'll think of something. It will be a nice surprise for Tom. He has been very well received by my friends and what little family I have and as time goes by, I miss "the others" less and less. (The "others" are the people who were my friends when I was married to the ex. Our divorce seemed to create a huge division...those who saw and knew the Truth and those who chose to ignore it or overlook my ex's tawdry behavior.) The "loss" of some "friends" took its toll on me during the 18 Months of Hell, but now I am able to clearly see the difference between true friends and social acquaintences. I don't really want to be "friends" with people who have no real convictions and no moral sense. From time to time I think about (one ex-friend in particular) -- I want to say to her, "Fine, then, you can believe what you want to believe or you can deny what Jack did to me and how he ultimately destroyed our marriage. But you just remember -- by overlooking it, by denying the Truth, you are CONDONING his behavior. I hope it doesn't -- but you keep in mind -- the same thing can happen to you!" Enough on that. I worked 4 hours yesterday at my part time job. The last half hour, my back was full of twinges and quirks and I knew I had had enough. This morning, I have another session of Physical Therapy. I doubt I will go to work afterward, as I still have to try to find something very special for Tom's birthday gift. Yesterday I also ordered the siding for the outbuildings here on the farm -- that cost another $750, but I'm looking at it as an investment I will recapture when/if I decide to sell the place. I decided not to do the barn just yet; will wait until next year and see what else might get priority. But at least the worst buildings will be back in good shape. So time marches on and I'm doing my best to keep up with it and still have some fun. Having Tom in my life makes such a difference -- I am no longer "all alone" and I know that he is in this for life. Sometimes my fear of abandonment rears its ugly head out of nowhere, but Tom always reassures me that he is fully committed and that this is the relationship he has wanted all his life. He is good for me. We are good for each other. He is truly God's gift to me.
