It totally amazes me that as we have illnesses we are treated by what the doctors say will giveus relief. As most know cancer patients are given chemo which is a posion to the body so that the tumors will reduce or go away..A priceonewill usually pay to beat the odds i have now gone through 3 back surgeries plus 2 knee replacements altogether 13 surgeries. During and after having the surgeries I was treatedwithmany different injections and steriods in form of injections (By the way I was one of the unlucky ones to received the bad medicine shots that killed a lot of people after their injections. I just happened to be one that did not get sick and die, but was scary). Yet, through the years I have had pLenty of Steriods not questioning whether it could cause a problem after all I was told no more than 3 injections per year. So that I abided withbut also at times they would give me oral steriods and knowing there are side effects, also know they cure so much. Happily I took them. Reduced pain, helped with sinus infections. Like the asprin so is the steriods
Yet no ome informed me that i was damaging my eyes. Not once had I heard this. I went fora check up. Pounded by my hubby to do. Don't need anything but reading glasses but now I have what he said was rare. Posterior cataracks(spelling). Whichmeans onthe backside of myeyes they are black which means I could go blind or have surgery so after years os anti-inflammatory meds and Steriods kt has damaged my eyes ...I felt a WOW. If I hadknown what it would do NO. No one wants to have d amaged eyes. Now it is a wait and see when to do surgery. Ihad never heard of this before but Steeiods are out foR me. Doing something I felt would help one problem has lead to another. I wonder what else the doctors have treated me with to help with one problem yet damages another part of the body. I had steroids when I was a teen until I was in my thirties for allergies. I was told they damaged my bones. I had cataract surgery at age 51 in both eyes. It was a simple surgery and I didn\'t even have to take anything for pain, but it was the common kind of cataracts.

I find that so many medications have effects that are detrimental to other parts of the body than what the medication is being used for. It seems that all the doctors want to do is give one medication to counter-act the effects so we are taking more and more medications. It\'s a vicious cycle.
So sorry to hear about your eye problems. I\'ve been having eye problems lately -- it makes me wonder if something I\'m taking is causing them.

This is terrible! I\'m so sorry that you have to go through all this. I agree with you, doctors don\'t always warn their patients about the side effects of the medications. They should be held responsible for that!

Oooh, I am so sorry. We are all afraid of losing our vision, our most precious sense~ that and not being able to talk! I had that for a few days, it was dreadful. Wishing and praying you\'ll be fixed with eye drs. Love, Abby
Doctors routinely cover up side-effect warnings so their patients go along with things. I saw a doctor slip a product warning out of a sample while he was trying to distract me. That particular antihistamine was pulled from shelves because too many people got really sick from it.
I looked it up in the library and found out that it was dangerous and that the doctor was prescribing it in a way that disregarded the prohibition on using it regularly for more than two weeks.
I would never, ever trust a doctor anymore. I\'ve seen too much for too many years. So sorry this happened to you.
I need an eye exam soon. I can no longer make out any words in anything that I attempt to read and this seemed to just creep up on me. Steroids are super for healing wether it is for the back, or for the lungs. I know about side affects when my mom was on a steroid to help give her an appetite and she ended up with steroid physcosis and in a hospital for a week end. Good luck with your eyes, my husband ended up getting glaucoma due to a medication he was taking. There seems to be serious problems with many drugs today and many recalls. I hope everything works out for you. xox
Wow. Steroids can be damaging. I\'m so sorry. Everyone should be told all the possible side effects so people can make an informed decisions.
