DXA Scan done today
Hi friends. I have completed round three of the total body check up. Since my spinal surgeries took up several years of my life, I've put off certain routine tests. I had my mammogram and ultrasound with diagnostic mammogram today. After that I had my bone density test or DXA Scan. A scan like this is only a moving exray of your bones. It is not invasive and no nasty tasting drinks are necessary. It lasts a short time. The purpose of this test is to see if you, as a DDD patient have begun the early stages of osteoporosis, called osteopenia. For a spinal patient it was a little uncomfortable as you have to stay still in a twisted position, one leg that is. I had tears streaming down my cheeks into my ears with this. My pain was due to the fact the table was too high and I had to sort of crawl up on it. I managed. It's all I can do. I will relax tomorrow in preparation for the nerve conduction test on Friday. I am still dreading that one. I will keep you posted. Must check on Gabapentin prescription as well. I will be officially out on Friday. I may be making a cross city trip to the neurosurgeon for a scrip tomorrow.
