DVLA!!!!!!
well after speaking to my gp back in april i decided to go for it and apply for my driving licence! meds are working well and i feel confident enough to give it a shot! so 6weeks ago i sorted my application, as i've been married twice and changed my name between the 2 ( didn't want to lumber my daughter with maiden name of winterbottom! lol) i had to include all my i.d; birth certificate, marraige certificate, divorce papers, change of name deed and a letter with my national insurance number on! 3weeks went by and i hadn't heard anything so i phoned DVLA "no we have'nt processed your application so phone back in a week!" i was a little concerned that they hadn't recieved it but was assured they were a bit behind and it probably just hadn't been processed yet! another week went by and still nothing so i phoned again, this time i was told they definately hadn't recieved it and i should contact the post office! i did just that but all the post office could tell me was that my postal order for £50 hadn't been cashed! i was starting to panic! logically minded as i am i decided to phone the medical section of dvla as i'd put a covering letter in about my condition and wondered if that was why it was misplaced! nope wrong again this time however i was told by the woman i spoke to to phone the police and report it missing! so i did an officer came out and explained it was highly unlikely that they would trace my i.d but at least if anybody tried to use my id in any financial scam or otherwise i was covered! after the officer had gone it suddenly dawned on me that the documents linked to my divorce and change of name were irreplacable as it had been 13 years and the solicitors only keep them on file for 6! that would mean any chance of me getting my driving licence was now gone and if i ever decide to get a passport i can't as i can't link back to my maiden name! i spent the rest of the day sobbing uncontrollably i felt cheated! all i'd wanted was a chance of a bit of normality and all i got was stress, devastation and a day of cataplectic fits! my hubby tried to reassure me it wasn't the end of the world even though i knew he was devastated as it was our original marraige certificate that had gone! i spent the next week trying not to think about it and put it to the back of my mind, that was until thursday last week when i recieved a letter from dvla requesting medical details and permission to contact my doctors!!!!!! in the same post was a large white envelope which on opening i found all my id documents inside! you can't imagine the relief quickly followed by anger at the fact that they'd had it all along and put me through all that for nothing! i'm now waiting to see if they'll allow me a licence, personally i think they should just for putting me through all that!!!!! but we'll see fingers crossed :-)
