Dry, burning lips...
Does anyone know whether or not are connected to "my" MCTD/SLE ?
I suffer from very dry, burning lips and the only remedy that helps is Original Vaseline,
which I carefully put on my lips.
I am unable to use any lipstick because as soon as I use it, my lips start burning
and hurting even more.
Does anyone know anything about this symptom ?
I have been wondering if it is connected to my suffering from photosensitivity
and kidney-involvement or whether it is "purely" connected to "my" SLE/MCTD flaring up again....?
Thank you for your thoughts, Kristina.

it might be some photosensitivity for the burning because i get that from exposure in the sun sometimes, and sjorgen\'s for the dryness. it might also be that you\'re sensitive to stuff in the lipstick??
i use badger lip balm spf 15 during the day

Dear moojean, thanks for your kind thoughts, advise and message, it is very much appreciated.
I guessed it might be connected to my photosensitivity and Sjoegren\'s and I am so glad that I am not the only one with such issues and we can share our experiences. It is realy strange, there I battle to stop my kidney failure, and I am doing quite well with my perfect diet etc, but there are always those niggling nagging things like the burning of the lips which just gets me. I feel a little better now to know, that it is just a \"normal\" issue with photosensitivity and Sjoegren\'s.
Thanks again for your kind message, it is very much apprediated.
Kind regards from Kristina and greetings from London.
Oh my gosh Kristina, me too! I used to work in cosmetics and wore lipstick and lip gloss in every color every day. About 10 years ago the same thing began happening to me. Every once in awhile I try a lipstick, gloss or balm. Burning and peeling of my lips will occur within hours. In my case I have found lip liner for color with a little vaseline over it doesn\'t cause the issue. Vaseline has a handy little tube with a little hole under a cap especially for lips thats awesome. Kind of hard to find, but when I do I stock up.
Hope this helps :)

Thank you jetchickwithmctd (... love your name...!) and welcome to Daily Strenghts.
I shall now start to look out for a lipliner and the Vaseline in a little tube with a little hole under a cap and hopefully I can find it ... Mind you, I use regularly a tiny little container with original Vaseline and that has helped me a lot. .. It seems that Vaseline is the \"allround\" answer... and perhaps our problem is connected to our suffering from MCTD... I also have to be careful about eye-make-up and have to make sure I am not allergic to it... I have had to stop using make-up on the skin of my face many years ago because of my photosensitivity... and I only can use one dermatologically tested cream on my face ... when I have to go out and the sun shines, I have to use an added little \"shield\" of Vaseline Cream on my face for added protection - even though I always wear one of my wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses when I go outside...
Thanks again and best wishes from Kristina.
