Dreams, Thanksgiving
Hi everyone,
I had a dream last night. I dreamt that Ed & I were taking care of a stray cat that found us. I cannot remember much about it but that Ed was his gentle & nurturing self as we helped the kitty & that I could feel his essence and it filled me up but left me with longing...
Thanksgiving was always a big deal at my house. Eddie would sit at his spot at the table & good naturedly tease the ex Elaine & then act like he was grumpy with her. Then I would tickle him & say, "choocie, choocie coo" like I did when he was little and he would say, "mom, you are so goofy", and laugh. Lots of teasing and laughs all day. Sigh...I am trying to make new traditions. My adopted daughter Donna invited us for dinner so Ken & I are going there. I explained to my grandchildren that I cannot have Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday without their Dad. Josh was understanding -he's so easy going, but Christina said she is hurt. I am having dinner on Sunday & they are all invited but Christina doesn't understand why I cannot do it Thursday. As I explained, I cannot deal with the empty chair. Not on that holiday. Their mom is going to her boyfriend's with her 2 younger children. Josh is staying at his in laws for dinner & Christina and Iysabella are invited to Donna's with us. She is thinking about joining us there & I hope she "mellows out" & does join us.
Ken has been a bear since he is still not feeling well. We are barely talking but that will pass.
Hi Eddie, You know how much Thanksgiving meant to you & me. I will miss you & long for you always but thanking you for visiting me in my dreams. Come again. I love you forever and ever. xoxo mom

How comforting to be in Ed\'s loving presence. That is always a gift of peace I believe when we\'re able to experience these dreams/visits.
I am so glad to know that you spending Thanksgiving in the way that you need to. No one can understand a mother\'s heart at this time and you need to do what nurtures and serves you. Good for you, Linda, and I do hope that other\'s hurt feelings can be turned around yet if they are not it is not about you...
Dear Ken... just not feeling well and afraid too. Yes, this too shall pass yet please do everything that you can that lifts YOU. There is only so much your set of shoulders can carry so continue to give over what you cannot as I know you do.
Loving care to us all as we move through a tender day of giving thanks for our beloved sons in our lives and so wishing they could continue to BE with us in the way that we long for them. Gratitude for what we do have yet honoring our paths too. It\'s all in the mix, isn\'t it?
Much love to you, tender heart,
Joanie
Your situation seems very complicated and I don\'t understand it all but you have to do what feels comfortable for you because to do otherwise is risky to your emotional wellbeing. Right now, you need all your emotional strength. Ken is afraid. He has no reason to be but it\'s quite difficult to help people see that. I try when I take the Eucharist to the hospital, I try to explain to those who are clearly quite afraid that there is nothing to fear, that they are not alone. Sometimes a glimmer of hope is seen when I say those words. I keep Ken in my prayers each day. God bless you and help you get through this holiday season.
Linda, your beautiful heart-compass will guide you through the dark, under the stars, with Ed\'s love shining on your days. I hope that Ken can find a voice for his worries that is more of an invitation to share the journey of your lives. Funny, that\'s what I was sort of writing about in my journal too! Much love to you and sweet Eddie.xoxox

Hey, what\'s the status on Ken? If You posted it, I must have missed it sorry....Hope You Have a BLESSED THANKSGIVIN!!!
How wonderful that Eddie visited - letting you know he is fine. I am still waiting for Lisa to come - I have seen her in the distance. I long to hear her voice. Our special time of year was Christmas.
I hope Ken feels better soon. He must be nervous about the results of his MRI. It does make for a tense time.
Have a wonderful meal with Donna. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this Thanksgiving week.
Love and hugs to you and cherished Eddie,
Marlene - Lisa\'s mom
What a sweet dream and visit from Ed!
Your Thanksgivings of times past sound very similar to our Christmases ~ an all day expression of joy and silliness ~ just being together and loving every moment.
Is this the first year that you are not having Thanksgiving dinner at your home? I\'m sorry that Christina feels disgruntled about this ~ but I think she will come around and join you at Donna\'s house. What a blessing to have a welcoming home to go to!
We are all challenged to find our new holiday traditions ~ ours are still very much in flux. So far Thanksgiving has been in Florida with my sister the first year (something we had never done before); in Vegas last year where we didn\'t cook but ate at the Stratosphere; and, now, we\'re back in Seattle in a familiar setting where we will join 20 nieces and nephews and their families at one of my nephew\'s homes.
I hope to hear good news about Ken\'s MRI ~ men do get grumpy and whiny when they\'re not feeling 100%. This, too, shall pass!
Sending much love to you, Ed and everyone in your wonderful family for a Happy, Delicious and Blessed Thanksgiving ~ Debbie
Hi Linda,
I have been praying for you and Ken and you have been in my thoughts a lot lately. Holidays are so harsh and our expectations of them make them so much more so, especially at Christina\'s age. I think females are so much more likely to try to make everything perfect and then feel let down when it isn\'t. Men don\'t seem to care much as long as they get some food and their football.
I am so happy that you had the dream of Ed. I am sure it is comforting for you. I sure miss your presence on here but it looks like at least some of the components are back. I had to blink 3-4 times as I looked in the corner and saw chat is back. I hope we have not lost too many moms.
Love to all of your family,
Leda
I love dreams of MOrgan, they help,,,so glad you had one from Eddie...love & hugs!!!
Kudos for you, expressing what you want and doing it. We\'d all be better off with the truth. Wishing you a peaceful holiday and more dreams with Ed. I know our boys are terribly missed, all our loved ones now gone into the universe. I\'m going to Coco\'s, an inexpensive, local restaurant with two neglected friends. No shopping, no cleaning up, few memories. abby
Yes, Thanksgiving was also a wonderful time for Brandon...of course, he loved the food....it was a joyous time for our family. Now, we have his picture and a candle..and our memories. I so miss the laughter...what laughter happens now seems hollow and incomplete. I don\'t blame you for making something different for that day. If I could get away with it...I would.
I pray Ken will feel better and that he will be able to be himself for you soon. It is a precarious time with his health issues on top of everything else. I know you are very thankful to have such a comforting dream of Ed...how I wish I could have a real like dream about Brandon....like you knew Ed\'s compassion and kindness in your dream...that is a part of him that you knew so well.....I am glad for you dear friend. Have a blessed holiday and your granddaughter will get over it one day.....love to you and Ken and Ed....dale, brandon\'s mom
Thanksgiving is rough! My Michael died on the Saturday before and his memorial service was on Tuesday before. And yep, it was his favorite holiday. I hug you tightly as we venture through these difficult days. I choose to work on my son\'s Angel Day. I miss him no less on that day than any other day of the year! Hugs Belinda
I understand....Thanksgiving was Kala\'s favorite...and usually begins my whole spiral. Taking a deep breath, and forging forward...
So touched by Ed \"showing up\" to bring a measure of comfort to you during this time. I think they try SOOO hard to do that. Kala peeked in on me on Saturday.
My Thanksgiving prayer for all of us is to find our new way, and to incorporate tradition whenever possible, and for our families and friends to understand our need to do this, as we face the holidays.
Peace, blessings, healing, comfort, joy, and LOVE to you and yours.
I am so happy that Eddie visited you via dreamland! I am also happy that Donna has given you a wonderful place to have your Thanksgiving Day meal that will give you more peace. Hopefully Christina will understand better, and attend also.
Men hate to \"not be in control\" of a situation and I can understand Ken being grumpy until it\'s all \"fixed.\" Doesn\'t make it any easier on you, though--especially during this holiday roller coaster season.
Peace to your heart and much love! Donna
I am so glad you had the great dream....Just a little bit of them means so much!
