dream
I had a dream about pot holes a while back.
I went down a road (at one point against traffic) and picked up just one scoop of asphalt to drop in a hole. There were pot holes ALL over.
I went across the street to the store for something (I think it was something for Church) and I think it was sugar cubes. I didn't have enough cash going in but I had this feeling / belief that everything would work out.
I realized I could have gone across the street instead of down the road with all the pot holes.
Is it easier than I think?
I didn't have to fill up all the pot holes if I just went across the street.
What do you think the pot holes represent?
Technically, what are pot holes? Places in a road that have been eroded (faulty in the first place? or just eroded from weather, traffic, etc.?) They force you to slow down or take a detour. You can fix them or take a different route.
I was trying to fix these pot holes with one scoop at a time and there were lots of pot holes. All I had to really do was just cross the street.
So, then the words to a song I had just heard came to mind as I was thinking about the dream. About not having to fill in everything - not having to have all the answers. The lyrics are: "if the questions brought me here I AM who I was born to be."
Okay, so then I drift back to sleep and my girls were little (I have four daughters now young adults) and I was young and wearing a swim suit and holding the hand of my second oldest - she was about 3 or 4. I was thinking about how I can't have enough regret to change the past. (In other words, why regret?)
Dreams are interesting - purging our subconscious. Often sending messages that people like me need to listen to since I THINK too much during my waking hours and I need to have messages sent when I'm not aware to over analyze.
I guess that's kind of like walking across the street instead of filling up pot holes. Stop with the intellectualizing of life.
I am trying to lose weight. I gave up sugar a couple of months ago. I am far from swim suit thin but I have always loved to swim. Interesting how things just pop up in dreams.

\"if the questions brought me here I AM who I was born to be.\" - I like that Katy. Just live life. What song is that? Kind of reminds me of a saying, \"What hit you could not have missed you.\"
Funny, tonight I was thinking of how to gain weight since I\'ve pretty much taken sugar out of my diet and it doesn\'t seem to make me feel as well. [chuckling] Life is like a box of sugar-free chocolates, isn\'t it?! 8-)
Ah Katy..Pot holes are people who smoke too much ganja! Oh wait, that is pot heads! LOL
Not to be confused with Cone Heads who consume mass quantities of beer!
as for the pot hole dream and question...pot holes to me are perhaps a wake up call too...they jar you along a smooth road and perhaps make you realize things...it is easier to fall asleep on a smooth highway than one that is peppered with \"pot holes\".
They also may not necessarily be the weaker part of the structure, but the more utilized part initially that does get worn down or changes as a result of the usage.
As for filling them with a spoonful of asphalt, hmm well sometimes maybe that is all we have to use!
I have had a lot of pot holes in my life and they have made me who I am today...and well, it is like the scars I have on my body from chicken pox or cuts or things like that...I have lived! I am not a porcelain doll that was on a shelf and has a flawless \"skin\"..BUT I have a tough skin! and some of my scars are good things to remember...like putting your arm through a glass window hurts and so Don\'t Do It again! LOL
a for the journey we all take and how we get to where we are at any given point, well, this is something I have given a lot of thought to lately and I honestly told someone the other day that IF I was given the opportunity to go back to the time just over 2 years ago KNOWING what was to come and IF I could change the course BUT in doing so would have to forfeit the lessons I have learned and the changes in me that are good changes..would I do it? Honestly, no. I would not. I like these lessons and I like who I am at this moment...and that has been a gift.
Ah song lyrics, Don Henley\'s Heart Of The Matter is playing right now and that song is important to me...one lyric that I want to share that I just heard
\"the more I know, the less I understand All the things I thought I knew, I\'m learning again\"...ah so true!
Ok I have rambled on enough but this is what I wanted to share about this post!
DREAM ON KATY!
P.S. so I was re-reading my post( to see if it was totally incoherent lol) and thought to myself it is also like an airplane that hits turbulence....you can not see those \"pot holes\" if you will but you can feel them...maybe that is what dreams are sort of like...mental turbulence? hmm Fasten Your Seat belts! It is going to be a bumpy ride!
Great journal. Really.
It\'s not your fault that whenever I hear the word pothole, I think of this:
