Dr. Koopot
I had to go to the hospital today to fire my urologist and while I was there I ran into Dr.Koopot. He was Jeff's heart surgeon for 25 years. We shared an elevator ride together. I thanked him for 25 wonderful years with Jeff and he cried and I cried. Damn, here I go again. He told me that he studies Jeff's records continually, trying to figure out what happened to the new heart and why it took on the same characteristics of the old heart and killed him. They just can't figure it out. It seems he has a case of the if onlys. It must be so hard for him. He was the only surgeon for about 10 surgeries, some heart, some not until the transplant team got ahold of him. How helpless he must feel. Jeff always referred to him as Allah!

That must have been an interesting experience to be on the elevator with this doctor. Many memories of good times and sad. Jeff no doubt is one of those patients and cases that he will never forget and hopefully someday, Dr Koopt will be able to find those answers. Hoping you get a new urologist, one you can keep. I can\'t imagine, can only guess at the helplessness Dr. Koopot felt and continues to feel. What an awesome spirit to have loved Jeff to the depths he did, as revealed in his tears during the elevator ride. Doctors such as he are priceless, even when the worst happens. Good luck finding a new/better/keeper Urologist. I love you SOOOO much!

There are no coincidences... I\'m sure both of you needed that time together. I would watch the doctors/nurses in the hospital after they lost a patient and no words were necessary as it was written all over their faces. Peace to you this day my friend. Love and hugs, Joanie

Doctors are people too and if he treated your son for so long he felt his loss also. it was so/// good you were able to talk with him. It was probably healing for both of you. Sandi
