Done with Chemo!

Been a while since I updated. A few things have happened. I continued with my treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma which I just completed June 9. Overall it went well and smooth. It was hard at times and I didn't always feel the best. I am thankful I was able to work. I did end up in the hospital this week due to low counts. I got some antibiotics and they came up. Thankfully it was my last treatment when that happened. I have a PET scan July 2 to make sure the treatment worked. My oncologist is encouraged since the one at week 3 of treatment; half-way point was negative that this one will be too. I will then follow-up with my oncologist at Mayo clinic in August. I think after that appointment I will truly feel like it is over and I can get on with other things in my life. The hardest part was losing the hair. I did get a wig but towards the end here have not worn it much. I still think I feel ugly without hair but my husband thinks I look great. I have been blessed with many family and friends supporting me. I have been able to continue to work full time throughout this battle for which I am truly thankful for.
In March my dad passed away from multiple sclerosis. It was sad but it was great he could be at home and he was ready and went peaceful. There were times I could not visit due to chemo and he understood that. He even got to see my bald head which was nice because I got to hear him call me gorgeous and on my bad days can still hear him say that. He is truly missed, especially today being his birthday, but I know he is in heaven and smiling down on me. He is my angel and can see me every day now!
I am very blessed to have such a wonderful husband. On my bad days he is always there and supportive. The day my hair started coming out, which was sooner than expected. He was wonderful and he even shaved my head for me. This was an emotional thing for both of us. We were both crying which in a way was nice to see from him because he is not an emotional guy. There are times this 6 months has gone fast and times has gone slow. Either way I am happy it is over. It has made me stronger and a better person but I am ready to move on and not be the person with cancer anymore and just go back to being me.
