Done the Concert

Yesterday, I drove about 60 miles to a Christian Village nursing home and did a  piano concert.  They had a beautiful Clavinova piano to use.  They were kind of quiet and I wondered if they were enjoying my playing or not.  After it was over, many of them told me how wonderful it was, and how much they enjoyed it.  The nurses and the Activity Director were well satisfied and they booked me back there in March.
I was blessed to be given the gift of music, to be able to play by ear. I listened to my mother play when I was about 4 years old.  I used that gift and taught myself to play and when I grew older, I played 6 nights a week in taverns, bars, hotel lounges and juke joints, all over the country.
Since I became a Christian, I have used it in 2 different, semi-pro Gospel Groups, also churches, gymnasiums, nursing homes, Senior Citizen centers as well as hospital Long Term Care units. My desire is to be a blessing to people.
After cutting a finger off in 2003, in a snow blower,  I had to resign from the Gospel Group I was playing for, due to my hand injury and not being able to stand the jar on my hand, that comes from playing in a Gospel Group setting.  Playing now, in these places, I can pace myself and my fingers can stand it.  It is a miracle I guess, that I can play at all.  I have had all my fingers broken on both hands, except my right thumb. I have had my left hand crushed, steel pins in it for 5-1/2 months in 1970.  I have a crooked index finger on my left hand from this injury.  I also have the twisted and crooked middle finger on my right hand, that I got in the snow blower in 2003.  Due to the broken bones and my age, cold weather affects how my fingers work but, I endure the pain and play anyway.
It's kind of funny, in a way, during the summer months, I come in to these places in my leathers, my RRJ (Road Riders for Jesus) vest, my tattoos, etc. then, set down at a piano and play music.  I guess I don't favor what a piano player is envisioned to be!!!!!LOL.  I am blessed and I hope to bless others, with my music.
