Done, done done!
As I stated on FB, the words "should", "ought to" and "supposed to" are banished from my list of valid reasons to do anything! If someone wants me to do something, I want to hear a good reason why.
So why am I saying this? Bottom line, I'm tired of doing all those things I'm "supposed to" do without any acknowledgement (let alone appreciation) or instead with complaints and/or criticism.
Last night I made dinner. From the beginning, H & I have always agreed that whoever doesn't cook, cleans up. Well he didn't eat, nor did he even clean up. Nor did the kids even like what I cooked (not that it was a gourmet meal, but seriously?). What am I, a cooking/cleaning machine?
And this morning, my son was late AGAIN despite my prodding, nagging, pointing out that he could lose credits, etc. Not only that he got extremely verbally abusive with me & started pulling out all the swear-words (to which I finally said, "look, I'm not impressed; I've said a lot worse in my day!") & saying that I was a "b**** & always will be" and yet--and YET he still EXPECTS me to give him a ride to school! (even after I had told him that I was not going through this anymore, nor would I take his verbal abuse & he could take the bus to get to school.) Really??? Really???
So: I am done. Everyone is old enough & capable enough to feed themselves, clothe themselves, clean up after themselves. I'll put the roof over our heads & pay for utilities, because I want a place to live too. But slavery has officially been abolished!
