Don't know what I am going to do
I am financially overextended. I got my primary mortgage for this house 7 years ago at 7 1/4%, which was good at that time, and took out a home equity line of credit, which is at 4.04%. Between the 2, I'm paying almost $850 for the mortgage every month. I'm also paying $250 on one of my credit cards, and $50 on the other, $150 for cable/internet/phone, $100 to $400 for electric, and, apparently, now have to pay for my other card, which my brother was supposed to pay which covered his car repairs last year, which is another $40 each month.
Last winter the heat cost $3,000 for the season.
I'm on a fixed income - disability. Foolishly, when I was waiting for my disability to come in I used my home equity line and credit cards to keep me going, thus the high balance. Well, at the time, my brother was kicking in something, at least.
But my brother stopped kicking in about 2 1/2 years ago, and when my disability kicked in, the food stamps and heating assistance stopped. Now, I can't afford to live here. My credit card balance is so high that I can't risk using it any more, and the line of credit is, as well.
I know that I won't make it through another winter here. There just isn't enough money. I just found out that I can't refinance without an appraisal, and the house will not appraise without repairs to the kitchen. I cannot afford to make repairs to the kitchen. The real estate agent still hasn't called me back, and I don't know if I can even list the house for sale, or how long it would be on the market if she is willing to list it.
I am totally screwed.
