Don't feel like myself mentally

I wish I knew what was happening. It started with these weird feelings of something "zapping" me, and I could feel it coming....almost like a mini-seizure or something.
Now everything around me looks "strange" or "foreign". I do not nor have not forgotten things...I know where everything is etc. But things just do not seem nor feel right. I will see something for instance on tv and it will take me back in my mind to something that happened in my youth....same when looking out the window etc.
I am 69 years old, in relatively good health. Never had any mental health issues. I am scared, worried, confused etc. Went to doc and he put me on Valproic Acid...250mg twice per day. It is an anti-seizure medication ...just in case..he said. He also put me on penacillin 3 times per day in case it is sinus infection, which can do strange things with the mind as well.
Has ANYONE every had this experience or know of it?? I am terribly scared ...please help me !!!!
