Don't brag, don't try to impress others with words. You aren't a product that has to be sold.
If you're telling the truth, you're telling others exactly how they could hurt you. You're showing what is important to you, what's worth stealing, what they can turn against you in a thousand ways.
If you're lying, it will be found out and you'll look like an idiot. And no matter what you do in life from then on, no matter how many witnesses, there will be doubt.
If it's a half truth, then the false half taints your achievements, making them less valuable.
The most common advice I give to people boils down to "Shut the #### Up! Learn to be still! Listen more than you talk, think before you open your mouth and REALLY think about what you've been told."
