Doing well

I went to Easter dinner at the house, and it went well.  I stayed maybe 2 1/2 hours and then left after enjoying a wonderful meal and doing the dishes.

Things are crazy at my job, and it requires a lot of focus.  I have my son this weekend, and we are having a good time.

I'm through the worst of all of this, and seem to be finding my equilibrium.  I'm comfortable in my new apartment, and I enjoy alone time and reading.  I stay busy with Alanon, DivorceCare, Pool League and my son's visitation.  I'm able to enjoy some time with my ex, like taking a walk around the block, and I'm not filled with longing and distress.

If you had asked me if I'd ever get to this point when she left me, I'd have said you were crazy.  Yet, time does heal, as does a lot of introspection, time with a therapist, reading and processing.

I'd say I'm doing good now - not great, but not bad either.  And, I have hope for even better days ahead.  I'm comfortable in my skin, and I have a new confidence that isn't rocked by anything others do or say.  I've forgiven her, and forgiven myself, and I've made an inventory of the things that are good about me, and those that need work.  It came out much better than I would have imagined.  Having forced myself to actually do it has really helped my self-esteem.  There is a lot to like about me, and that doesn't depend upon anyone else's opinion.  This is good, and is something I don't think I've ever had before.  Combined with strengthened faith via this journey - a connection to Heavenly Parents that love me (all of us), I feel pretty good.

Next on my list is getting back in shape.  For a while, I was eating my way through the pain and I gained over 30 pounds.  It is time to take the weight off.  It is also time for new summer adventures.  I'm signing up to get my Scuba certification, and I think I'll really enjoy it.

I write this both as a marker in my journey, a contrast to my older posts so I can see the progress, and perhaps to give some hope to others that might stumble across it.  The journey continues...
