Doctors think I should not be scared
After being in the hospital with Afib/flutter on Easter Sunday
I had a follow up with my cardiologist today and he told me to stop
taking rhythmol because it is not working.
Just Stop he said.
I have been on it 7 years along with dilitiazem and warfarin.
I told him I am frightened to stop it and he said it is not normal to be
frightened and should talk to my PCP about Prozac. I was livid.
I told him I had met a lot of people on this site who were frightened
and he said it is not normal. I wonder how he would feel if he were
having these symptoms.
I am so upset. It is a new doc as mine retired... and he has a stellar
reputation and great credentials. MY pcp said I don't need that
but the cardiologist claims if you take antidepressants AFIB will lessen.
I think he is full of it.
I am going to stop the rhythmol with fear and trepidation and hope for
the best.
Why are women perceived as high strung and not taken seriously.
Has anyone else ever heard this?

IMO Cardio Drs tend to be pompous. I had one like that too. I find asking Pharmacist about meds. is helpful. I will be Hoping for the Best for you too.
Fear of the Unknown is normal, and afib certainly puts us in unknown territory!

Thank you ... I am still upset ... can\'t wait to read the book you
suggested as Ed ordered it the second you told me about it.
I am reluctant to say anything to any doctor. They just want
to have tunnel vision and not look at the whole picture.
