doctors connection

I had along talk with a doctor about people who suffer chronic pain. I was told that " its a process " a doctor go's threw to determine a patients pain . My opinion is they look it up in a book to see if your condition hurts ,and how much. My doctor uses the patients complaints and ** ACTION'S ** to determine the level of pain. IE " my foot  hurts". But you only limp when the doctor can see you. That's fine , and its their responsibility to insure a patient doesn't abuse medication , was my reply.  However , for the folks that have medical records at the doctors office ,showing a long history of pain ,make me wonder if the good doctor has read the records completely.
" We don't always have the time to read a lot of records on a new patient " That makes me feel safe !
Reading highlights , about past treatments , and past doctor's notes is a good way to create problem's with a good treatment plan. One  " bad " doctor or a personality conflict with a past doctor can have ramifications long after you stop seeing them.
Best way to stay on top of that is review your record's including doctors notes. It's information concerning you and your health or condition . You have a rite to see all of it. Its one way you have of checking up on the doctor. What for ? Well when you have your car fixed do you ask for the old parts back ? Or do you ask the mechanic to" show me what's wrong" ? Do you check references' on a contractor before they work on your house? What's more important ,your house, car ,or your health ?  Take some time and consider it. Doctors ,make mistakes ,have bad day's , get headaches , and struggle to pay bills too . Lots of thing can affect job performance. There is a big difference between being in a slump and being incompetent .
