Doctors Appt

So I went into NYC today to go meet with another doctor out of Mt. Sinai Hospital. It took us almost 2 hours to get there, and I live about 25 minutes away from the city...Anyway, he gave me options that I already knew about like the Humera, moving my remicade to every 4 weeks instead of 6, or surgery. Humera isn't approved for UC, and I don't think I want to do the 4 weeks for remicade because its basically doubling it. Plus my insurance doesn't even want to cover me at 6 weeks now, nevermind 4...The more I talk to people about the surgery the more I lean towards it. I'm in a good spot right now to get it, rather then start a new job, have the medications not work and then I'm in another bad situation and it just breaks you down even more...He did give me a name of a surgeon he wants me to go meet with, just to talk to her about the surgery, so I'm going to meet with her next week. I'm just so tired of the trial and error and the disappointment that follows it, along with the ups and downs that already come with the territory of this disease. Just wanted to give everyone a quick update about how it went today. I hope everyone that has had surgery is healing nicely and feeling well :)

Thanks for updating us! Isn\'t it a relief to have the doctor lay your options out for you and pick one that you feel in your heart is the best thing to do? I know that I was happy when my doctor was all on board for surgery. Best of luck with meeting the surgeon next week! They are usually pretty quick to get you in so don\'t be surprised if it is sooner than you expected. I met with the surgeon then had mine 9 days later! If you have any questions, everyone on this site is very helpful :)

Good luck! You will know in your heart what you want to do... for me it just made sense and here I am almost a week post takedown already! Thanks for keeping us updated!
