Doctor's Appointment
So, the morning I have been dreading for a month is here. I went to my doctor's appointment this morning to hear all the bad news about my blood test results. I have been so terrified.
So...here goes: let me start off by saying that the weight I have been stressing over wasn't even accurate. My home scale weighs me a good 7 lbs heavier than the doctor's office! I weighed 306 this morning at home in the same pjs I always use. I weighed 299 at the doctor's with my clothes and shoes on!
Secondly, I found out that my weight gain, lack of energy, and non existent metabolism is due to hypothyroidism. Now I know there is a reason for all of it. My doctor has started me on a low dose of medication for it and will adjust it as needed. But, it will help me with my energy and metabolism which, in turn, will help me lose weight! With that being said, I have very high triglycerides (250). They are supposed to be under 100. BUT, the doctor says with this medication, it will help them go down as I add diet and exercise to my lifestyle as well.
Now, on to the really scary stuff: the blood glucose, the cholesterol, and the blood pressure. My blood pressure was slightly high today, but since I am supposed to be taking a very low dose medication for it, he was very happy with the levels (145/83). My fasting blood glucose was 103...a normal person's is under 100, but diabetic's is over 120. Therefore, he says it could have been a slight error due to something I could have eaten, and that as long as I make these lifestyle changes, I will not become diabetic. But, I do have a predisposition for it so I have to work to make sure I do not become a diabetic.
My bad cholesterol levels and good were both outstanding. He said he could not have expected better results. He said the same for my liver, pancreas, and kidney function...So, YAY ME!!!
I feel very blessed by God today and I am not going to waste this wonderful opportunity to change my life before it is too late. I have the drive and the knowledge...hopefully this medicine will help me get up the energy! I can do this! My doc said I should start by losing 30 lbs over the next few months, which is totally doable!
Thank you to everyone who believes in me and everyone who continues to be there for me and support me! I truly appreciate it and you have helped me keep going when I thought it was all over!
Now...if only my overzealous cycle would stop making up for lost time and come visit me next month instead...I have been on it for 28 days, with no signs of stopping soon. But, I will not let it stop me from exercising anymore!

Yay on your weigh in and your good blood test levels. I, too, was exactly where you\'re at with the blood sugar, etc. Start taking a cinnamon pill daily and that will help your sugar levels. I used to have my period non-stop...even for a year. Not cool. Good luck with the pills and try to stay as positive as you can. Try cutting out soda and sweets from your diet and slowly go from there. If you do that, you should be able to lose 20 pounds by summer. God bless you!
