My love, soon many will join you in your quest on killing the dragon (virus).
I will give you all the information right here in your journal, for you to write down and get the answers, on what you will need to know.

This way your doctor, will know that you do have some knowledge on this situation.

PCR blood test will reveal, your genotype.

The genotype 1 is 48 weeks of treatment.
All other genotype, like 2,3,4 is only 24 weeks of therapy.

So we are hoping for you to be one of the other types, this way the therapy is half a year, instead of one year.

The viral load is the amount of virus in your system.
A viral load under 4 or 5 million, is still considered sort of low.

Ive seen people with 77 millions so anything under 4 or 5 millions would be much easier to get down, if you are a responder to treatment.

I gather you have totally quit drinking alcohol, if not then its the very first thing to do.
Cause the alcohol is the worst for a person with hepatitis c, it will progress the damage to your liver, if any very quickly, if you continues to drink alcohol.

So very important that you lives a very healthy lifestyle.
Eat well, exercise, and no alcohol or drugs, if you smoke cigarettes, it would be a good time to quit.
But I must admit, I never did quit, way to hard.

Next, the biopsy.

2. The biopsy will reveal the damage done to your liver, again if any.
The biopsy is the Gold Standard procedure to be done in order to have the exact measurement of the liver damage, if any.

So it is critical that you get a biopsy, not an ultrasound, it is not considered good to measure, and you wont get the exact amount of damage, so you must push the doctor for a biopsy, nothing else but....

CBC blood test.

3. Complete blood count blood test, you will have to go through many of those.
The CBC will tell you if your liver enzymes are elevated.
If so, it means the hep c virus is active, and progressing in your system.
Thats when the gi will get the biopsy done.

So this is pretty much all thats you will need to discuss with his gi, are you going alone, it would be a good idea to bring this list with you, in order to write and cover everything on this paper.

Also if you dont have insurance, and you never did treatment, you will qualify for a free clinical study.
Then get a biopsy as soon as possible, in order to see how urgent it is for you to do treatment.
Do you have an idea on how long ago, you have contracted it?

For example: my hubby had used IV drugs in 86, just the one day, 3 times that day, and used the same spoon as his friend who had it at the time, thats how he figures he caught it, so thats why he did the study right away, it was a long time since he had it, and miraculously he had no damage, but he was not a drinker.

In my case, I dont know when exactly I contracted it, the only thing I know is that in 1995 I didnt have it, so its between 95 and 2000, and already had fibrosis of the liver, stage 2 grade 2 fibrotic scarring. But I prefer drinking alcohol from drugs, so this is why I emphysize on not drinking, it is worst than the drugs.

If you should have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me, I am just a message away.

Love & Respect, Mckenzie
One day at the time.
