Discontinuing Efexor - ohhh the joy

I knew this wasn't going to be easy, but last night freaked me out a little.  Thankfully I was with it enough not to panic.I had an anxiety attack in my sleep - I don't recommned it to anyone who hasn't tried it, lol.  I woke up tangled in my blankets and sheets, I'm not sure what was going on and can't remember now what I was actually "panicing" about, but I do remember talking myself down, knowing it was just a panic attack and I wasn't dying.  I think I thought I was having a heart attack or something, not that I was in pain, just heart pounding, and thinking "crap, I'm at home alone and no-one to get me to the hospital"  why on earth I'd think that I have no idea, cos I wouldn't go to the hospital unless I was dying. Anyway, fortunately, I did talk myself around pretty quickly and got back to sleep.   I hope that that is a one off.  I feel like I haven't slept for weeks, you know when you're a bit zombie like.  Every time I walk I feel like I'm sidling like a crabl, lmao, and my eyes feel like they're about a second behind my body. I saw the doc yesterday and told her what I was doing, I hadn't planned to do it without talking to her first, but I ran out of meds and I'd been talking about it with my previous doc for a while.  I'd come down several levels before, so pretty much knew what I had to do.  Although after doing some reading, suggested that the final step introduced another med temporarily.... ah well, lol.  She gave me another script in case I don't start to improve soon.  Then I'll try again with her help and the replacement med.  I'm just hoping thato I'll be right in a few days.  I'd like my brain back!!! Consequently, I haven't been doing too much this week.  I've applied for a few jobs, got a phone call from one mob the same afternoon I'd lodged it.  At first I was excited, but now I'm very sceptical.  He phoned to suss me out to see what I knew about the position and when I'd be available.  Well because it was up in town, I asked him if it was just a vetting process - not in those words, but I'm not gonna drive for 4 hours just to be checked over.  It's supposedly for a number of positions across the state.  Well fine, but are there going to be any near ME, cos if not, don't waste my time.  He said he'd call me back the next day to work out an appointment time and for me to research the position more.  Which I did!!!!  He never called back.  I was going to call him, then thought...... nah, it's all too suss, and I'm not wasting a trip to town.  If he calls back I'll reconsider. I have set up an email fax service for my business.  I flip flop daily on how much time and effort to put into this.  I need a regular income.  I don't want to lose my house and living on unemployment covers the mortgage and not much else.  Thank goodness for my savings, but I don't want to use all of that either. What a whiner!!!!! Anyways, I figure, while I'm not working, I might as well put my efforts into my business and if I get anything out of it, great.  If I get another job, I'll see if I can work around it-just have to play it by ear. Clint is packing his flat up, his flat mate left on Friday for Japan, and he is moving into a friend's place while he looks to buy his own place.  I'm so excited for him, I hope he can find something great reasonably soon.  Dale is still working - yeha!  Rick is over his neuralgia and back to normal-yay! I seriously considered buying myself a pup this week - there are a few black labs around.... I was soooooooooo tempted.  But then my rational brain took over (darn it).  I need to get my fences fixed up a bit, but more than that, what if I do get a job? that's not fair on the little fella for me not to be here all day.  Plus, I don't know if I'm up to the whole getting up in the middle of the night thing to let them pee etc - I'm already a noodle head....   Maybe I should look at adopting an older dog.  Then there is the allergy problems, lol. They fluctuate, but there are times when the dog is a real problem for me.I love it when our family dog comes to visit.  He just pops over when he feels like it, but they will be moving soon and that won't happen anymore.  Ahhhh decisions, decisions. The Island is swamped with motorbikes this weekend, although not as bad as I thought it might be, it's SuperBikes here this weekend.  Traffic will be horrid this arvo and tomorrow morning. Well, I think I've rambled on enough for one psycho puppy today.Hope my firends are all doing well.

wow that\'s a lot of news all at once, i\'m trying to not let my 10 sec memory give out a sentence at a time lol! well i\'m happy for you for the good news! i\'m sorry that your brain is out on vacation or MIA... i know the feeling! and effexor thing... ugh... wish me luck too, cuz i don\'t wanna go thru what your goin thru right now :(.

about the puppy, you could always get a cat door put on your door so he can go in and out to pee. i was thinkin of putting a cat door on my bed room door cuz Silver likes sleeping with us and we sleep naked, so it\'s best to not be on display for the rest of the house hold LOL. well i hope this helps with your decision. having a pet is a good thing and it keeps you from getting depressed. good companion. but for my taste, i couldn\'t handle having a dog, don\'t want the drool or the barking or the running around, etc. my cat is a very quiet, low maintenance, laid back kitty that respects my migraines lol. but to each his own, right? whatever makes you happy is what i say!

well i\'m glad for all the good news and i hope you get to feeling better soon, hope you get some of your brain back too ... ;). take care, Deb!

Hope you get it all sorted out soon. I think an older dog might be a good thing - and putting in the door (here we call it a doggie door) so he/she could go out is a great idea. We have one and it\'s been great if either of us is not feeling good. I love my fur babies - they curl up with me when I\'m down and they never complain about the mess in the house or the lack of cooking that goes on here LOL

LOL I like bluesun\'s remark about the 10 second memory - mine is almost as bad.

I say \"Always keep your fences mended\" you never know when you might need them - emotionally and physically.

I am of two minds about the dog - for me I would adopt because some of those poor animals have been abandoned and/or abused and all they need is a loving home. Getting a young one you get to train it the way you want it trained but then that is a lot of work. Big or small dog? I prefer a big one - you have something to hug and if it is trained right not at all hard to take walking. The small ones are too yappy and tend to get underfoot too much. Now breed is another thing - I will NOT go for a Terrier because I have found even a cross breed is a terror but look for one that is from a more laid back set of parents or a laid back breed. I am thinking a Collie might be good for you - I don\'t know why but something says the protection that a Collie give tells me that it will be good for you. Yes high maintenance with the brushing but the more you handle the dog the better you will be. Please don\'t get me wrong I love our cat but love dogs better because they interact more with me.

I hope you get a job before all your savings are used up - government assistance is no great shakes here in Canada - don\'t know what they are like for you.

Have a blessed Day

LOL unlike people they don\'t talk back but will LOVE back - all you have to do is talk to them and they will respond. Now I am getting to want a dog more and more - shoot! No our apartment/flat is too small even if we were allowed a dog here.

Yeah... sorry about how long it went on!! I struggle with posts that long too, so not fair to expect people to read mine, lol.

Doggie door isn\'t an option for me, one door is glass and the other has a security door behind it. Plus, if I did get a dog, it would most likely be a lab, I\'d have to cut the door in half, lol.

Well, I got about 4-5 hours of messy sleep last night, eventually. I took a valium before bed (only 2mg) didn\'t put me to sleep but not panic attacks or nightmares when I got there. Just tossed and turend alot. Woke up before 6am, lots of bike traffic and heavy trucks heading off the islnd early this morning and I guess my ears were sensitive too it. My face is aching, but so far, I don\'t feel so spacey, so fingers crossed that is passing.

Thannks for reading my journal and commenting girls.

I myself am not really a dog person, although we have a dog - my husband is a dog person. I\'m a cat person, you don\'t need to walk them and entertain them, so it is a lot easier when you are feeling like shit. Good to hear that your boys are doing well, one less thing for you to worry about. I must be really out of the loop cause I didn\'t realise you were coming off your effexor, I\'m sure you have a good reason to put yourself through all this withdrawal. Deep down inside you are a rational being, otherwise you never would have talked yourself into sanity when you had your panic attack. I hope your sleep gets better very soon. Get the other medication from the doc if it\'s going to make your life easier - why torture yourself?
Love the pictures of the kitchen by the way :)
