Disappointed June 13th, 2013

My sister is getting the results of her 1st scan after surgery on Friday.  My brother from Tulsa was planning to drive to my house (5 hours), and then we were going to drive to my sister's house ( 4 hours) so that we could be with her to hear the news.  I know from members of this site about the anxiety of hoping to hear good news after their scans.  So we wanted to be with my sister during her doctor visit.
But my back is acting up (I have degenerative disk disease and a protrusion), and my therapist is hinting at back surgery since I'm starting to lose some function in my left foot.  So with much regret, I have cancelled my trip.  It upsets me because my sister knows that I will be her caretaker when the time comes, and now I know she will have some doubt that I will be able to do that for her.  She is facing enough without this too.  :(  I need to heal my back so that I can take care of her, if needed.  I hope to try another trip soon.

Linda,
As many people have told mr... You must take care of yourself so that you can take care of others.

Paul\'s questions to me after the first surgery he had \"who takes care of the caregiver?\"

Take care of your back and yourself. I will continue to pray over the situation.

Thank you, Jo. I hope that Paul continues to improve each day, now that the big surgery is over.

Yes, indeed, you must take care of YOURSELF if you are to be anyone\'s caregiver. Be patient and wait on the good Lord to heal you and allow you to be with your sister if and when the time comes. Hugs and chocolate!! Vicki

It\'s ok Linda, I\'m sure you will be there for your sister in anyway that you can. Being available even on the phone to listen and share can mean the world to a loved one too. Especially when there are miles between distance of each other. Pay attention to your back and do what you can to keep yourself healthy. You can always look at what options your sister has, if she reaches the point of needing a caretaker, but maybe she won\'t need one, as her health will keep improving. :-) I\'m praying all goes well with her results. I\'m waiting on mine too. Hang in there! Hugs, Brenda
