Disappointed by ultra sound...
Well, I had my first follow up eval with the ER after starting my stims (Bravelle and Menopur) on 09/01/08. This consisted of blood work and an ultra sound. The ultra sound only revealed 5 or 6 small follicles with one of the follicles being on the larger side. The RE asked me to come in on Sunday for another ultra sound so they can see how this one follicle is maturing and further determine my trigger date to start ovulation. I am so confused, why would they want to set triggers based upon one stupid follicle that probaby won't result in anything. Maybe she feels there is at least a 1% chance versus just telling me to cancel this cycle...or maybe IVF as a whole. I asked numerous questions most of which they couldn't answer...at least at this time. I'm still waiting to hear back on the results of my blood word and probably won't get this until late this afternoon. I do not that I will be starting some other injection, Ganrilex I believe but again, I don't really see what the point is. I called DH on my way home but he was extremely busy trying to get things done so he can make his flight late this afternoon. He basically asked questions that I couldn't answer and said we could talk about it during the flight this evening. Yes, back to Oregon for the weekend to see the Ducks game. I'm really not in the mood for the quick trip to Oregon and/or evening seeing our friends who I do love dearly. I am just not into it! I think I would rather stay here in LA with K2 and feel sorry for myself; something I am rather good at. Not really sure why I am having such extreme mood issues today but I just can't seem to snap out of it. Right now I would love to have a few glasses of high end champagne (hell, why not a bottle), smoke some cigarettes (yes, I still miss these) and some high sodium caviar - all of course at the cost of someone else, health, money and otherwise. How decadent!?!! Well, it sounded good in theory. Here's hoping all of the wonderful women on DS have a terrific, relaxing and successful weekend! Lauri

Dear Lauri, you\'re probably sick of the saying, \'it only takes one\', but I think your doctor is going by that philosophy. If you have one good follie why waste it?
Is this an IVF cycle? Maybe she will do an IUI with the one good follie.
The mood issues could also be the fertility drugs. Hormones have a way of messing with our emotions. I don\'t understand why but when my estrogen is surging I relate very well to the psycho from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Hey and why not indulge in some champagne this weekend.
Honestly, I don\'t yet know what should be expected as far as # of folicles, but let\'s hope that one is THE one! I don\'t think a glass of champagne would hurt things, I hope you allowed yourself to have one! (or two)!
