Disability, Health Insurance, Therapy, oh my!
I'm STRESSED. Talked to a lawyer today about disability. She said it would take 6-12 months to get a hearing. Then 3 months after that for it to be processed. I turn 26 in January and need to have my own health insurance. But I have an auto-immune disease, so most likely no one will insure me, but i'm not dirt poor so welfare won't take me and put me on medicaid. *HUGE SIGH* But if I don't get health insurance, I will be dirt poor in no time flat! Pills, pills pills and Bills bills bills. Then the last few weeks of therapy have got me all stirred up, depressed and anxious and I'm getting worse again, back to where I was months ago. Struggling to stay above water here!!!!!

I am sorry you are in this mess. I don\'t know why they expect you to work with an autoimmune disease plus anxiety. But I don\'t understand the American health care system at all.
Should I move to UK with FreeAtLongLast or Canada with Angela?
Oh Canada... I miss the healthcare, eh?! (but not the taxes)
Beth, I can understand your stress. Until I was put in touch with a company called Allsup, I went through the same red tape as you. Even to the point of having just a little more income than required to put me above poverty. It\'s a shame that the American system is so complicated.
Please contact the following company for a free SS disability evaluation and find out if you\'re eligible for benefits, I hope they can help you.

Thanks vgiles - I\'ve already hired a lawyer to help me with the next appeal and hearing. If that doesn\'t work out, I\'ll check out Allsup.
