dinner at k's, caprese salad and roast beef//sauna at timeshare//reading the shack
this should have been on last thursday's journal, but that journal is full. busy day. couldn't go to dinner tuesday because i got out of the doctor so late. so we ate on wednesday. tuesday is good because ion has a criminal minds marathon every tuesday and i like watching that show and forensic files. this time i saw forensic files and part of ferris beuller's day off. haven't seen that movie in a really long time so it was fun glimpsing it. its still good even thirty years later - but the teenagers are less relateable because i'm so far from being a teen. have to remember to post a joke similar to that, i have one from a's collection (she really should have a column she comes up with so many good ones).
so i brought k black bread and other deals i picked up at the hope store. taco mix, taco shells, soft ones as well, some kind of european cracker - fun trying new things. k made roast beef. excellent and green beans with wine. i need to pick up shallots and parsley for the escargot next week i guess, hope i remember. i'm totally up for it. i picked up lobster bisque at the gourmet store and have been enjoying that for the passed week. they had 32 ounces of lobster bisque for $6.
we finished off the rum and cherries drinks, also good. he made a variation of caprese salad. caprese salad is a simple Italian salad, made of sliced fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and basil, seasoned with salt, and olive oil. It is made to resemble the colors of the Italian flag: red, white, and green, but he added extra things like beets (yum) and used a dribble of ranch dressing like he does when we have blanched asparagus (also yum). then we had roast beef with gravy, green beans, wine and dunkin donuts coffee. festive.
just started reading the foreward to the book the shack, which says the book is basically about a real person, his name is mack. it also deals with abuse, as did meredith baxter's memoir, though she endured 23 years of abuse from her husband/ex-husband after ten years of abuse by her militant step father before she got away from it, only to end up with another husband who used to be on a show called "groovy" in the 60's who squandered most of her money and she was paying his alimony and child support in addition to the expenses of her kids tuition in college.
how do people not leave hideous situations right away - even one year of that crap is too much. i know m, in real life, went through that as well, she graduates college, becomes a cpa, gets married, starts working as an accountant. they buy a farm in georgia in the middle of nowhere to get away from it all, and her husband totally turned as soon as they moved there. she said it was like doctor jekyl and mr. hyde - who the hell are you. so she's in the middle of nowhere with little kids, where do you go? what a disaster. m is the one who moved to florida and lived in a tent in an rv park while she relocated. you have to give her credit. when i said this to rn, rn says she lived in her CAR when that happened to her. and i'm thinking WHAT?
rn is catholic and her family's attitude was, you got yourself into it, no one was drugging you or poisoning you or forcing any of this on you, you chose to marry this guy and now this guy is violent and abusive, deal with it. they didn't offer her sanctuary or support at all. wth? so she left as is, which takes guts and lived behind a grocery store in her car. i almost fell over when she told me this, because you would never guess, especially up north where it is cold most of the year. omg! people are amazing. she said she had no money at all so that had to be it. you get by. she was young too during that - early 20's. generally, when you hear that kind of thing, like one of the guys is living in his office right now and going through a divorce, one of the judges down south was busted for doing that at the court house -- its because by the time you are over 40 people's family's are dead, even earlier if you are the youngest one or an only child, but at 20 or 25 you don't expect any of that.
its real important in life to own a piece of land, super low yearly tax and if anything happens there is a place to land, or investment real estate if the stress doesn't bother you and keep an office with bath for yourself. or even timeshare if you live in a tourist area. though if the person you are avoiding is also a stalker, you are in trouble everywhere you go. stalkers if not killed, will stalk you for DECADES and generally you don't even know your stalker except in passing at best. what the hell is that? so weird. what is it - in their crazy brain they think they know you? attacking someone is not dating. that seems to be what it is with criminals, they think you should KNOW they are about to commit crime, like its normal to act like that or something. too weird to even think about. if you need automatic "family" join a cult, Jehovah witness, hari krishna, scientology, military, you have options, but leave the public alone. there was this woman who used to be in the military who worked for a lawyer i did temp work for in the early 80's. she called me YEARLY at christmas time to try to get me to spend christmas day with her and other military people. and i'm like NO. wth? you call a total stranger on the phone (i always have an unlisted phone number) and keep calling, insisting they spend a big holiday with you? what part of the word no, don't you understand. wth? i don't even know her and have no interest at all in knowing her so why are you calling me. she didn't become any kind of normal until she became a jehovah witness, they don't celebrate christmas at all they have a last supper and the entire church is invited and has it together. they are anti-holiday.
i never knew about stalkers until i was in my 20's and it never occurred to me that holidays weren't an automatic thing for people until about the same time. i knew people celebrate things all different ways, but i didn't know that people commit suicide over it - in the united states only. wow! or insist EVERYONE celebrate their way. what the hell is that? i just remembered what that is, its called ethnocentrism. the belief that however you are raised and wherever you come from is THE WAY or THE PLACE and any other way must be inferior or less than what you are accustomed to. i don't think i've ever been like that. in the arts, holidays are viewed as a time where every artist ends up employed and even outside the arts, many people view holidays as the time of year where they make a lot of over time and time and a half. lol. different views. ministers dread the holidays because its extra work time, getting ready for all the extra stuff at church and generally hate the holidays.
my grandfather was a minister. holidays were the time of dread for him. all different views. in europe its a time where there is a lot of time off, festivals, parades and church. people cook a lot as well and the manger is the bigger thing not a christmas tree at all or only a tiny one as a trinket - no stress - the decorations are outside and done for you, not inside. in usa, let's be honest, they don't celebrate religious holidays at all - they twist them into consumerism and capitalism, they celebrate buying objects. what the hell is that and its OVER by the actual holiday, instead of just beginning 12 days of relaxing visitation and/or church - whatever kind of purification or fast that exists for weeks before each holiday, in usa, they don't know what that is. how did that happen? the purification IS what the holiday is. to get the poisons out of your body, mind, soul. wth? lol. here, they poison themselves more instead with gluttony and greed. why do they do that?
used the sauna at timeshare and even that made me tired. wish the tired thing would go away.

\"tired thing\"...i made a screensaver from a doris lessing quote of how when a person gets older \"you\'ll suddenly find energy leaking out of your fingertips and toes for no reason whatsoever
