Did too much yesterday... as usual
In one of his skits, comedian Ron White talks about getting arrested for being drunk in public. He says something to the effect of "I had the right to be quiet, but not the ability." That's how I feel most of the time. I used to be so active it is almost impossible for me to sit and do almost nothing.
My daughter had been gone all weekend at a medieval event, but got home early with the thought of taking her two friends out to go ride my horse. As it is my horse (hers is not old enough to ride yet), they stopped by the house to ask if it was ok - and my answer was only if you take me too...
Well, my horse is not getting ridden enough lately and has to be ridden down by my daughter before I can ride him, so I CAN only ride if she is there. So we have just sort of worked out that she works my horse and I work her horse on the prepratory stuff for being ridden - then when she is done riding, I walk about on my horse for 10 minutes or so until my back hurts too bad and she helps me dismount and puts both horses away.
A few months ago, I had a tack failure, my saddle slipped when I was riding at the canter and I fell. My horse did everything in his power to catch me, but there was only so much he could do. Since then, I have only ridden at a walk for a few minutes at a time. Well, yesterday there were a lot of really good horsemen/women out at the stable and I wanted the fear of falling to go away. So over the quite loud protests of my daughter, I stepped my horse into a canter for one lap about the arena.
I need a new saddle, because it once again, just a bit, slipped as he went into the turn. All it did was scare me, it was secured too well to cause me to fall. The quick change in my horse's stride as he felt my balance waver though sent a shock wave up pain up my spine. I rode for a total of maybe eight minutes.
However, I also worked with the three year old filly for about 35 minutes - I will be hopefully starting her in a cart by the end of summer. She won't be ridden until she is four years old.
Then, counting the standing around talking time, that was about an hour...
All told, I took one vicaden when we got there, before I even touched a horse. Two more after I got off my horse. Two more before going to bed that night and two more at 4am when I figured out that pian was the reason I coudl not sleep.
So far today I have only taken one - but I am in agony and will have to take a second one before too long.
On a scale of 1 to 10, with ten being the point where I am quietly weaping because it hurts too much to just cry and I don't dare move a half inch because it will hurt even worse, I am currently about 7. I CAN sit here, but every breath shoots pain across my chest and my alert dog has just jumped into my lap, picked up the bottle of vicaden and handed it to me.
I HAVE to sit and do nothing today, otherwise tomorrow will be more of the same.
On the plus side - I'm manic and emotionally bouncing off all the walls - which makes it even harder to sit still.
