Diabetes, Thyroid Disease, and now RA
I am newly diagnosed (March 2014) - been in a lot of pain for the past year - and nodules started appearing on my right hand (across my wrist) last fall. My mother had RA, as well as a male first cousin and several aunts. I've started on methotrexate and folic acid, but I am allergic to aspirin so I am not able to take anything for inflammation. I am on pain meds - time release - and it helps somewhat. I've also been off work since May - so much going on.
I just wonder if there are other people like me who have Type 1 Diabetes (1989) and thyroid disease (1994) - and RA - all three autoimmune diseases? Dealing with RA has been difficult enough - as everyone here knows - but I am now trying to understand and manage everything about this new disease. Because of all the other things that I manage (complications from diabetes) - I know that I missed a lot of early signs.
Any thoughts?
