Deliverance from Meniere's
It hit me earlier than usual last year. September was hard, the holidays were worse. It's hard to fake holiday joy, when you have to sneak away and lay down all the time. I can barely remember the symptoms now, i know they were debilitating, but I feel so good! But I will try to remember back to that grim time. The ear ringing so loud it kept me awake and drowned out the hearing test, making me look deaf in one ear. So dizzy I found relief only by burying my head in a pillow, or drink lots of wine at social events. Started taking interest in really high bridges.
I stumbled into Dr. Drew Hall’s office in Carson, Ca somewhere around December last year after trying every ENT, swallowing every anti-biotic, taking diuretics, Prednisone, MRIs, Chinese teas, anti-histamine nose steroid sprays, and nasal washing religiously. Nothing helped, but got a possible diagnosis of Meniere’s Disease, maybe, they don’t really know. Great. Always seemed to come on out of the blue too, like after painting the house, or sit-ups at the track. Was rear ended on the freeway 20 years ago, stiff for a while, but OK, bygones – probably set the stage. Been to standard Chiropractors who relieved my migraines and back issues. This thing was unbeatable. Months would go by, birthdays, parties, weddings, acting normal became tiresome, still trudging on, hopeless.
Well then I meet the ever cheerful and confident Dr. Drew, who tells you right off how bad he’d been, which made me feel better – he looks very healthy. It sounded too easy, but desperate, I laid down on his bench, steady, holding still, he held two fingers on my neck, then pop! I really didn’t feel a thing, but my face was flushed. After laying down awhile, I left with assurances that I’d feel better later. A funny thing happened on the way home, I didn’t want to go home and rest, I wanted to go out for Pancakes! Sitting at the table, I started to smile without effort, something lifted, I knew this thing was going to work, maybe not at once, but eventually. I had treatment for three months before I was clear. Clear! Little things don’t seem to matter now, my systems crash, my car breaks down, weeds, crabby drivers, angry birds, everything is in color again, I just remind myself I am free of it, and I relax!!
