Delayed update!
Well here I am again - now the "other side" of Easter and yes, things do look a lot better! YEY !!!
Saw my Specialist last Monday and he checked my leg over and confirmed x-rays and MRI scan showed infection /swelling in the tissue but nothing wrong with the bones. Also all my numbers are good and HepA and Hep B immunity is still good. Cholesterol is within tolerable limits - Blood Pressure is crazy but hey-ho (can't have everything). That was the good news to come away with. Then he said "But, I don't know what the hell this is!" He's referred me to dermatology but they can't see me til early June - so now paying for a private appointment and I can be seen on 14th May!!
Then managed to speak to my General Practitioner. He was sooooo helpful. We discussed options and he recommended yet another course of oral antibiotics rather than I/v - but a longer course so they really get a chance to hammer this damn infection. Started those on Thursday and this morning I realised I am not limping with the pain and the overall pain has reduced greatly. Leg is still badly swollen and it is sore but an improvement.
All in all - SOME progress. Consensus seems to be that it started at cellulitis but got 'complications' and that is what has spread and not responded well.
Feeling better as a result of this and GP saying "pop in when you are passing - no need for an appointment, I'd like to eyeball that leg again and just see what's happening!!!" Great support from him and VERY happy at that.
Looking forward to gardener arriving soon to landscape our back garden and make it nice and pretty - currently a desert - so something else to be grateful for and look forward to.
Onward and upward - always someone worse off then me.....
