Defense???
My son has been in jail since turning himself in and looking for help with L and L behaviors. He was engaged to a women with children when he realized that he needed help. I found out recently that he was molested when he was three and also in grade school. Nobody needs to tell us this doesn't justify my sons behavior. When his step-father left us 10yrs ago, and he began acting out I got him into counseling. He continued having trouble in school so he was in group homes, residential treatment facilities and finally at a ranch in Texas for one year. He made progress there because he was also helping with the other kids at risk.
Fast forward, now I've recently learned that he has not felt normal for years but even through all this counseling, he was just too ashamed to talk to anyone about it. He has a public defender but their office is out of funds. I met with one of my sons Psychiatrists today and the public defenders office had not even contacted him! I had given my sons attorney a list of names, addresses and phone numbers, 8 to 10, where my son has received treatment. The list goes back to early grade school! The prosecuting attorney thinks my son is just fabricating this information and his attorney has told him to get ready for a hard landing.
My son and I are praying and remembering what we have learned: Lean not unto thine own understanding but in all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.
We pray for compassion, mercy and the wisdom of Solomon in the courts. There have been too many goodbys between my son and I. Please pray that this will not be a final one.
