Deep Trouble

My husband of 11 years left me for one of the young explorers at his department. We have a 10 year old girl together. My husband had worked as an officer for only 2 1/2 years when he left me, but in that short amount of time he changed so much as an officer. I was so proud of him. So happy for him. All he talked about was his job, which, wasn’t very fun for me, but I loved the way he was excited and passionate about his work, so I didn’t mind. I have always thought that we had a great relationship, and not for a second did I ever think he would cheat. This month marks one year of separation. He is still with the young explorer, and has changed into a completely different person. He is no longer honest and kind as he was, now he barely will look at me, let alone talk to me. This year has been the hardest by far in my life. I want to work things out, I want to be at a place where we respect each other, and care for each other. I know that this job has put so much stress on him, and I suspect that is the reason for the complete change in character, but this storm doesn’t seem to be letting up. He says he still cares for me, that he loves me but he’s not in love with me. Even though it has been a year, I still feel the same pain if not more so, everyday. I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m not happy, I feel crappy all the time and it’s effecting everything else in my life. Am I an idiot for still holding this candle for him? I don’t want our relationship to end this way. I don’t want to start another life without him by my side. I just don’t know what to do. I know there isn’t anything I can say or do that will impact him in any way. I feel so helpless and hopeless. Please help. Please someone, tell me I’m not alone in this.
