Deciding To Live My Life
Not much to report today. I read some links on passive-agressive behavior yesterday, which were pretty interesting. I liked these 2 key points: 1-it stems from displaced anger, and 2-it is
aggressive behavior that hides behind a curtain of passivity.
I'm not sure what led me to these articles; I think I was reading some posts in a forum & they had these links, so I decided to check them out. And now I'm thinking "hmmm". Put in a P-A context, the comments (women inventors/women's vote, which seem to be indirect "hits"), the over-spending, my friend's observation of "masked anger", his stubbornness, as well as other behaviors seem to make A LOT of sense.
So I've decided that, regardless of what his actual problem is or where it comes from, I really need to deal with what I see & feel directly. I can't spend all my time trying to figure out what he's "really" trying to say, analyzing his problems, etc. If he has a problem with X, he needs to tell me directly: "I have a problem with X." If he can't, it's not my job to figure it out.
And so I release this responsibility to communicate with me to him, and I will communicate with him in a direct way as well. And I'll get on with my life; there are some good things going on in it right now!
