Decent Day
Dear Journel- I sat here last night a wrote a long update on how I was doing, and I come back tonight to find it never was saved. I must of hit cancel instead. Well- Monday I saw my new GI doctor, she was really nice. She walked through the door and the first thing that came out of her mouth was "boy have you been poked and prodded in the last month, you've had every imaginable test done on you"!! I didn't argue. We talked a little about what led up to me being diagnosed and how I was dealing with the news. I told her that I had done a lot of research and I pretty much knew what the next steps were. I printed out some information on the Fibrosure blood test, and told her that I was deathly afraid of having a needle stuck in my liver and if there was anyway around it? She looked at the information and sadly told me that the test was not out yet, it was still in the testing phase in the US, and that you had to be part of a study group to have it done. She explained the entire liver biopsy to me and told me that I didn't have to rush into anything. She really was awesome. I really appreciated her bed side manner. It made having the disease not so bad. I did end up making the appointment for the biopsy. I made it for the 17th. My girlfriend from Florida is up visiting for the next two weeks, I'm going to take the whole week off next week to spend with her. I don't want to think about this disease until she leaves. I can't stop thinking about it completely but at least not have it dominate my entire thoughts for awhile. I told the doctor about the pain that I was having in my right side. She asked me when it started, I told her right after I got the news that I had Hep C. She paused for a minute and then gave me this look and we both started cracking up!!! She told me that it was very common that when you hear that you have something you immediately get the pain that you think you should have. Hmm... the pain is gone ever since I saw her. LOL!! It reminds me of a few months ago, my boss was talking to a colleague about her carpull tunnel in her wrists. The next day my boss woke up and couldn't move her wrists. She couldn't come the work that day she was in so much pain. Hmm... Pain went away the next day. Ah.. what the mind can do!! I have been eating so clean for the last month. Tonight I splurged. Me and my girlfriend went to 99 Restaurant and I had Salad with creamy dressing, bread with butter, crab cakes and a hot fudge sundae to top it off!!! I was really bad!! I guess it will not kill me to do that once in awhile. My goodness I've giving so much up since the dx. No more coffee, bread, butter, sweets, red meat, hamburgers, hard candy and the list goes on and on. And I forgot my weekly Saturday night Margarita's . I only would have one but boy did I enjoy that one every weekend. No more!! I'm down to Virgin Bloody Mary's. Well I must go for now. More to come...
