December 7, 2011 Happy Pearl Harbor day!!
Tuesday - Met with Joyce and I stayed at the BETC from 9-12pm working on apps online on Tuesday. I have my updated resume. We'll see what happens. 2nd day in Excel 2007 is going pretty good. Meeting some great people. Everyone seems to be picking up excel 2007 pretty well except for the guy next to me. He seems really lost. I don't know why he even signed up for it. He is an older black gentlemen of about 55 years old. He is a heavy smoker and all he does is cough and have to run out of the room because the teacher is asking him to. I think its much worse, perhaps COPD or Emphysema. He takes so long typing up a simple spreadsheet the instructor gives us (maybe 5-6 lines). He is a pecker. Whenever he runs out of the room because of his coughing fit - he misses a lot. The class is basic Excel, I know its quite boring for me but I need to take this prior to taking an advanced class. I make the most of it. Like I said before, I am there because I need to know the functions of 2007 and it changed a lot with 2003. there are 3 ladies in class who are taking a 7 week course on microsoft courses for 2003 (excel, word, access and powerpoint). I am waiting for them to offer the 2007 version (if I decide to go for the certification, I need to be proficient in 2007). When I got home, I received a call from an medical insurance agency that I applied for online. Its an intake specialist.
Got up at 9:30am today. Called Independent Health to speak to the HR assistant. She asked a few questions. Wanted to know why I had to leave Kaleida and my previous job. I tried to answer each question the best I could. She asked me if I had any insurance experience. I told her "no, but I would figure that I would learn insurance on the job. I would think it would be better to learn the insurance info within the scope of Independent health". Then she asked me about salary. I told her I made "33,000 a year at the hospital" but I would sacrafice a lower pay due to experience in medical billing". She liked both of those answers. Asked me about the coding. I told her "the coding exam is very hard but working on the codes would better prepare for another try for the CPC exam". Now I have to wait for them to call me so I can get my 1st interview, they would call by the end of the week. If not, I will keep plugging away. Something will pop up. I sent over 7 resumes/coverletters out to different jobs. We shall see.
Went to class and that guy was next to me again. He didn't cough too much but it is concerning to others. He only ran out of the room once. He still didn't know what the F@#$ he was doing. I decided to let him drown and not worry about him dragging me down. Apparently its his 2nd time taking the course. tomorrow is the last day this week. Friday I go to job club from 9-12pm then head out to Angola so I can meet my father to get tires at 1. My father! Ahhh....parents....when I told him I wasn't available at 12 he almost had a heart attack because he claimed I didn't tell him. I told him I wasn't around in the AM. AM being 9-12pm!! Not 9-11AM....Jeesh.....I am not gonna miss job club and setting another meeting with Joyce next week because of tires. besides its only an hour difference. I'll head out immediately because I will be in the city of Buffalo and it will take me about 40 minutes to head out there. Hope the weather holds out. We are suppose to get some snow.
I went to work out today. I felt alittle off, more tired today. I had a hard time running on the treadmill today. I only managed to walk 2 minutes and run 1 for 15 minutes. I guess we all have our off days. I didn't want to miss working out. I will go friday but it will be after I meet my father for the tires. I will be coming back out to Angola on Saturday to help my mother with the ornaments on the tree (I will get to that on Sunday night when I write another journal). I also did some biking, had it on random at resistance 6. that was much easier and not too hard. I am thinking, either the 1st week or 2nd week of Jan I would hit the aerobic classes or spinning. We shall see. Oh, I signed up for a free trainer class too for tuesday 12/13 at 5pm. I will journal that when it happens. Next week exercise is Sunday/Tuesday/Thurs/Sat next week.
I guess I will do alittle xmas shopping next week. The xmas club check is on the frig so I won't lose it. I need to keep the xmas presents to $25 or 30 a person. Only spending what is in the check. If one person has $20.00 worth of presents and I have no more $ in the check, thats it.
Have a wonderful rest of the week and catch up with everyone on Sunday night.

Hi Jen, I\'m glad you\'re staying busy and productive. I find that you are an inspiration by keeping on trying and bettering yourself. I foresee good things coming for you. You\'re proving yourself as a real go getter.
Keep on working out and we all have our off days. Anyways, keep on keeping on and big, big hugs.
Way to keep moving forward Jen!! I\'m sure something will come along soon....that 65 wpm is a very good level and your experience should be a big plus, also!
