December 21, 2010 - Huge Roach in the bathroom at work

How is everyone doing?  Its been a while since I wrote a journal.  Feeling ok, a little sore from surgery from the beginning of this month.  Its all about the healing process.
I was in my office, minding my own business. Working on some emails that had to be answered when a blood hurdling scream comes from the bathroom next door to me. Yep!  I am next door to a bathroom and you can hear some pretty gross things from people.  LOL!!  Then Marylou, the Visiting Nurses Association laison nurse was in the bathroom and screams bloody murder (ever hear screams on tv - now I've heard it live) and comes flying out holding her pants screamed "I SAW A ROACH!!"  we all come out of our offices, about 10 of us.  Todd, our only male nurse educator comes in the bathroom to find the roach (he is the man!!).  Apparently it was pretty big in size.  He even said he was scared of it.  We didn't have anything to kill it, it kept hiding.  We only gave Todd some air freshener to fume out the room - now my office smells good..LOL!!  She is totally freaked out and I could hear her talk about the roach from across the hall from me.  I'll be hearing Marylou rehashing it all day today.
She told us that when she was in the bathroom, noticed the roll of toilet paper was out.  She saw the toilet paper on the shelf and brought it around to put it on and felt something on the side of her hip.  Eewww...on her skin.  No wonder she screamed.
I closed the bathroom door and locked it from the outside so no one will use it (put it to "occupied") .  If they try, I will warn them.
I've gotta keep my door open so if mr roach runs out I want to warn people.  I've seen Roaches walk across the hallway here.  Mary has her office door closed (her office is next to mine).
Most of you know I work in a hospital.  A hospital with Roaches!  Apparently, they have lived with us for many years.  We are above the kitchen (which is why its so hot up here), they also like water, heat and food (I've seen them in our conference/lunchroom).  This hospital is slated to close sometime in 2012.  We are all going to another hospital site (same hospital system) about 10 minutes away.  Its NYS idea of streamlining our hospital systems throughout the state.  Not sure if other states did that.  I am sure they did or will be.
What a freaky week this is turning out to be......Hard to believe xmas is saturday!
