Death of a friend

I got a call this morning from an 82 year old member of my church.  His wife has been in ill health for about 2 years and she was in a Nursing Home.  He called to tell me she was taken to the hospital about 5:30 am this morning and she was in bad shape.  I got on my motorcycle and rode about 45 to 50 miles to the hospital.  I stayed with him all day.  We slowly watched the oxygen monitor and the heart rate monitor drop.  At 7:45 pm, he and I were talking about it not being long before the angels came to get her.  He said they are flapping their wings.  I looked at the monitor and it done a couple of blips and the heart rate line-flat lined.  I looked at the wall clock and it was 7:46pm She stopped breathing and the oxygen level  was as 39.  I nodded at a nurse and they came into the room.  They checked her, no pulse.  They called a doctor in and he pronounced her dead at 7:46 pm.   Her son lived in Texas and her daughter in S. Carolina so, no-one was there but just her husband and I.  I have been their pastor about 2-1/2 years.  I had visited her numerous times in various hospitals, nursing homes and, in her home as well over these past 2-1/2 years.  they had been married 40 years.  His first wife had died when she was 34 years old.  They were married 13 years when she diid.  This man has now lost 2 wives and his prayer with me he said "lord keep her safe with you, till I join her".  I felt blessed to have been able to be there with him when she passed away.  We joined hands and had a word of prayer together.  I stayed with him till the family were called and the Hospital staff had called the coroner and the funeral director.  I shook his hand and then rode 50 miles back home tonight at 9:20pm.
