death in the family
Yea it was a shock to all of us who knew him. He seemingly had it all! A high paying job, with an excellant retirement, plenty of money in the bank from buying and selling things which was his hobby, a nice home, a beautiful wife and a 12 year old daughter who was a straight A student. He was a nice guy who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it We went to Florida several times with him vacationing, and we always had a great time. He had a temper and was taking medication for it. I don't think I ever saw his temper but apparently his wife and daughter did. They were afraid of that temper and would do things behind his back and lie to him. A few weeks ago he caught them in a lie and lost his temper and slapped his wife so the daughter called the cops and he was put in jail. His coworker bailed him out and one of the bail conditions was a protective order in which he was not allowed to go near his wife and daughter. He came to visit with me last week and told me about his fears of going to jail and losing his job over it. I suggested he contact an attorney who would be able to help alleviate his fears and anxieties. I also told him he was welcomed to stay with me in my spare bedroom and offered him food and drinks which he turned down. I told him if there was anything he needed to let me know. A few days later I called him and he told me he was glad I called. He said he had very little sleep Again I offered a room for him. He said he would come but never did. Before I hung up I told him to hang in there and he said he would try. Those were the last words we ever spoke. Yesterday his best friend came to my door and asked if I had seen him. I told him no and to keep me posted. At that point I was extremely worried. His friend told me that my brother in law sent a text to his wife and asked her if she wanted a divorce because if she did, he was going to end it now, he didn't want to live anymore. I don't know what the answer was and can only imagine. Yesterday afternoon I was working in my shop when I stopped for a break and deided to text my brother in laws friend and ask him if he heard anything. He didn't answer right away because he drove to my house and said he wanted to give me the news in person. I think it is sad when people do things at the spur of the moment that has lifetime repercussions. I have been told that if someone has a plan to kill themselves, there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop them, it's just a matter of time. I can't help but wonder, if there was anything I could have said or done that would have prevented this from happening. But thats me. I am my own worst critic but I always try to let it go and leave it to my Higher Power and then I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I have said the serenity prayer over and over and I think it has helped some. But I will miss my wife's brother a great deal. He had a sense of humor and was extremely nice and giving. He loaned us $300 so we could buy our dog and we paid him back just before all of this happened.
Thankyou for all the sympathy notes. I would thank you all individuallyt but right now, I don't seem to have life enough to.
God Bless

Bob I have not been on DS lately because of how screwy it was. So I am just now trying to catch up with everyone. Sorry does not express what I feel for you. Empathy in your loss I do feel. Know that you always have my ear. I am only an e-mail away. Please take gentle care of yourself.
