"Mary is who you wish you were,
Rhoda is who you probably are, and
Phyllis is who you're afraid you'll become."

____________
"Death erection, is a post-mortem erection, technically a priapism, observed in the corpses of human males who have been executed, particularly by hanging.
The phenomenon has been attributed to pressure on the cerebellum created by the noose. Spinal cord injuries are known to be associated with priapism. Injuries to the cerebellum or spinal cord are often associated with priapism in living patients.
Death by hanging, whether an execution or a suicide, has been observed to affect the genitals of both men and women.
In women, the labia and clitoris will become engorged and there may be a discharge of blood from the vagina.
In men, "a more or less complete state of erection of the penis, with discharge of urine, mucus or prostatic fluid is a frequent occurrence ... present in one case in three."
Other causes of death may also result in these effects, including fatal gunshot wounds to the brain, damage to major blood vessels, and violent death by poisoning.
A postmortem priapism is an indicator that death was likely swift and violent and should be investigated.

this is only on my mind because i wrote an open letter to the editor for information anyone might have after being mugged in 1989 and taken from my car (a normal car not a nice car) and left in the road. today, they call it car jacking. don\'t know if the term car jacking existed back then. i then altered it into a five paragraph essay for a contest and won. if you are going to go through hell of any sort, you may as well make some money off of it and memorialize it for others who may go through it as well and can say, yup and thank you for SAYING it...
normally, i don\'t remember all this stuff much. just comes up sometimes depending on who is around and what is going on. i think lately it just bugs me when i see criminals on facebook, who i KNOW were found guilty in court....even full confessions and they are still out there and walking around or doing rescue and they are animal abusers. its disgusting.
my mugger just wanted my car and my money. i still was wearing my purse from park and ride. i worked in nyc at the time, but it was a nj suburban 22 year old who did it. the whole thing is disgusting because the guy had NO REMORSE at all. didn\'t see anything wrong with what he was doing! at all. and i blame our shitty justice system for that. why would a criminal stop being a criminal if nothing is going to happen to them anyway?
around this same time period, an old woman had been bludgeoned and died at park and ride, hit in the head with a table by a mugger who was a 32 year old female, who also robbed the purses of other people at the park and ride, on a friday when many people have a few hundred on them from their paychecks. its nyc. people have money. wonder if she is on facebook as well? one of my lawyer bosses knew the woman, who had also broken into our office in nyc and blamed himself for her being around. really bad taste in females there.
so many say, they went through so many bad people before they met a good one. so many toads first. and then there are those stuck with toads and in denial or worse and stuck in that terrible situation for a long period of time. perhaps six years in prison (if they go to prison) isn\'t long enough for a stalker. how about life in prison. that might do it?
What is really scarey is these persons don\'t see anything wrong with it!!!!!! I notice the younger generation more so, with some things it is becoming the norm. A few months my sister was opening a store she works out in brooklyn, put her bags down, handbag and comouter etc., and turn around to open the door and a woman is running down the block with her things. My sister lost it, ran after her, cornered her,she got her stuff back but she kept the mugger cornered and wouldn\'t quit yelling at her. Case and point, the mugger didn\'t get it, so ok i got caught now leave me alone. Unfreaking believable!!!! \"OK lady now leave me alone. Quite frankly my sister was deciding whether to........how much can one take?
It is a horrible shame that we have to live with these evil people in our society.
\"...has been attributed to pressure on the cerebellum created by the noose. Spinal cord injuries are known to be associated with priapism. Injuries to the cerebellum or spinal cord are often associated with priapism in living patients\"
so, are people who are sex addicts, like this because of cerebellum or spinal cord injuries?
dkay, totally agree with you. their attitude is either tears (not because they feel bad but because they are caught) or no feeling at all. don\'t know if mandatory community service in grammar school would help and animal care as part of school to help LEARN to feel for other living things. experts claim it would help, so why isn\'t in the primary grades curriculum now?
i also think their need for adventure would be satiated by mandatory military for both sexes at a young age, like volunteer for the military between the ages of 11 and 28 (though 28 is late, its the top off age in most countries). they really need to do something, it just goes on and on the way it is now.
most criminals are sociopaths, they feel NOTHING for other living things. they are excellent actors as well, its very hard to tell who is who. people like that are revolting and disgusting.
Wow! So sorry that happened to you. This world is truely going to Hell in a Hand basket.
Oh, P.S. I loved the Mary Tyler quote!
I think one reason why community service and learning about living with animals isn\'t taught in schools is because it is supposed to be done at HOME. Teachers are teaching things nowadays that really should be taught by parents. And parents are increasingly asking teachers to teach MORE. One thing that bugs me is when people say we took God out of schools. God was never in schools, He was taught at home. We may have made references, but the closest thing I ever had to religious teaching in school was a class on world cultures I took in high school. That class addressed all religions in the context of history and government and art. Never did I learn anything about the nature of God in school. Because I learned it in church and in Sunday school and at home.
Sorry for the rant. I\'ll stop now. Love the MTM quote! *HUGS*
yeah, me too carly. i think at different stages of life many people are all three. after court reporting school, most of us were mary. after and during college most of us were bohemian like rhoda.
i hope i\'m never a phyllis, lol., but i did notice that people i knew in junior high from the north east, definitely became phyllis\'s. sooooo many of them did. and seem to embrace it i guess. its odd, because i expected them to end up like that.
yeah, michelle i have something on that somewhere, villages raised a child, not merely parents. that\'s where the quote, it takes a village to raise a child, so live in the best village you can. but nowadays, there aren\'t very many villages with people watching out for the children of the village. not in usa anyway.
i\'m FOR religion in school. i took world religion in junior high. i think it should be a mandatory class as it touches on MANY of the different religions. i also used to LOVE civics, but they took that away as well. they don\'t teach community obligation at all, so how can the kids know they are supposed to watch out for each other. a book that is great for teaching that and teaching how to be a great friend is \"someone loves you mr. hatch\" its a children\'s book and its fabulous.
i love it when people rant. say anything you want. suppression isn\'t healthy. i vent like crazy when i\'m driving my car. lol.
