Dear Friend
I'm feeling a little nostalgic tonight, listening to The Corris and some Within Temptation. A dear friend of mine passed away last September. He's been a mentor, friend and considering how far we lived apart he played a huge role in my life since my mid teens.
I didn't get to say goodbye. I hadn't had a chance to really speak to him since late August because he wasn't able to get to a computer to use the Internet as much as he used to. He was always sick, but he had an amazing inner strength that I could feel even from so far away. He taught me wisdom, of energies, healing and inner strength. He taught me of paganism, of his passion for Reiki and is one of the reasons I have wanted to study aromatherapy and remedial massage (which is a little ironic now I have haphephobia.) for so long.
If I'd had the chance to say goodbye I think I would have tried to say something along the lines of... "Be free, be strong, be proud of who you have been, know that you will be mourned and missed, that no one can replace you, that you have loved and are beloved. Move beyond form, flowing like water, feeding in sunlight and moonlight, radiant as the stars in the night sky. Pass the gates, enter the dark without fear, returning to the womb of life to steep in the cauldron of rebirth. Rest, heal grow young again. I know you suffer no longer. Be blessed."
I still feel him near at times, and I wish him well. I take solace in the fact he's better now, he's not suffering anymore. He'll forever be part of my heart.
