Deadlines - no pressure here...
I applied to DHS for my mother on January 15th for the long term care. Today, after not hearing anything from them for months, I received a letter insisting that I provide them with the verification paperwork within 10 days of the date of the letter, which was dated 5 days ago.
Well, I have most of the paperwork ready, but they are asking for more. It shouldn't be a problem, but I have been under so much stress lately, between my mother, her house, my house, and the girl, that I am so stressed out that I fear that I will lose my mind.
I am terrified that my mother is going to get herself sent home, and I cannot live with her. She gets to me - still, after 40 years of adulthood, that I can only last a few days in her company before I am on the very edge.
She has been campaigning to come home, both by harrassing me, and lying to everyone else. Instead of calling for help to go to the bathroom at the nursing home, she is relying upon her roommate for assistance. After all these months, she is still unable to fend for herself in the bathroom, so should she come home, she will need to be watched 24/7, and I cannot do that.
She was here for 5 days, and everything that I did, she interfered with and interrupted. She rushes to the bathroom at least a dozen times a day, and since she cannot manage it by herself, I am tied up for 15 to 30 minutes each time, provided I can get there before she brings herself in there, and she simply cannot manage it by herself.
With the help that DHS can provide - and pay for - she would have several hours per day of help, and she would be going to adult day care. If that happens, it would lessen the stress upon me, but I don't know if it would be enough.
I really do not want this to be my life.
The alternative, however, is that she ends her days in the nursing home. This is entirely possible, because every time she comes off a course of antibiotics she becomes sick again, and they take their time about doing anything about it. This infection is sure to kill her, eventually, and if they do not do anything about it, well, there it is...
I'm certain that this is not going to work out for me - any more than Maine worked out for me. I already want to get the heck out of here, and move on, and these other people are not done with their demands upon me.
I just cannot take all this pressure.
