day seven
i think my bad feeling today has just as much to do with my mental state as my physical state. i had school all day yesterday - 8:30-4:45 - and then we had to go a family 'do at my sis-in-law's house. we ended up being there until 10pm, so i didn't get into bed until 11pm. i was awake from 7am to 111pm. that's the longest day i've had without a nap in weeks.
i got seriously tired around 2pm in my 'addictions and the family unit' class and had trouble staying awake. i bought some hummus and pretzels and a sweet tea hoping that would help keep me awake. it sort of did. but i was so tired the entire time we were at the family shin dig.
i also got frustrated because dh and i stopped drinking like 10 months ago. they asked us to bring beer. i just thought it was really insensitive, but dh says they don't mean anything by it. then his brother-in-law offered him rum twice. it just kind of pissed me off. dh says i shouldn't let it. but he hasn't told his family that we stopped drinking for good reason - it's like they just think we cut back or something.
so today i woke up too early because my cats are insistent that they eat at the same time every day. i had trouble falling back asleep because my body was so achy. i went to the laundromat while dh was at the gym and did our laundry. when we came home, we showered and juiced. today's pains include wrists, fingers, ankles, feet, hips, neck, base of the skull, and a frontal headache. awesome. and around my ribcage a little. i think that might have been from sleeping funny or something. sometimes it's hard to tell what's RA and what's life now.
my pain is bad enough that i wanted to take something for it, so i called the pharmacy to see what is safe to take. the answer was tylenol - the one thing i never really keep in my house. i had one tylenol arthritis (i also have degenerative arthritis in part of one food because of a car crash years ago) which is 625mg, so i took that and am hoping. i stopped keeping tylenol in my house years ago at the advice of my family doctor after i tried to OD on tylenol PM in 1999. he said it may be better for me to stay away from tylenol and sleeping pills after that. any sleeping pills or pain medication has been under my husband's supervision since then. of course, i'm no longer suicidal, but some things just become habit.
we have an early dinner date with my aunt, uncle, and cousin this afternoon, so i'm hoping the tylenol helps a bit. we'll stop for more on the way home. and then tonight i'll take my second dose of mtx. as annoying as the nausea, diarrhea, and fatigue have been this week, the way i felt yesterday and feel today make me hope that the mtx kicks in sooner than later.

Hang in there Lady. That dang fatigue is a tough nut to crack - when ya gotta rest, ya gotta. No other way around it - I would like to know if you think the little snack helped?
It takes a while for the MTX to really kick in and for me that help the fatigue, but now the MTX has no effect on the RA \"stuff\" and am going to ask for yet another increase in dosage -
As before, Hang in there Lady
Peace

thanks blue :) i\'m trying to convince my dh that i have to rest when i have to rest, but so far he\'s being a bit obtuse about it. i think the snack helped a little, but that might have been psychosomatic. or the fact that sweet tea is chock full of caffeine and sugar :)
i\'ve noticed that when i get really fatigued, i get slurry and rambly and a bit nasty sometimes. i\'m trying to keep an eye on it - and keep my damn mouth shut! lol
i\'ve only just taken my second dose of mtx - can\'t wait for it to start doing whatever the heck it\'s supposed to do. i\'m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that i have *another* chronic condition :/
