day one fifty
that's a nice round number. i like it.
it's my birthday today. which is nice but i'm kind of sick still. at least i'm nowhere NEAR as sick as i was last week.
no big plans tonight, possibly going out to dinner. or ordering in. or something. tomorrow night dh and i are going out with my bestie for dinner and ice cream. i'm thinking of suggesting greek food. i haven't had greek in a while. and sunday we're having dinner at our family's favorite steakhouse, which is funny because dh and i are like 80-90% vegetarian and my brother and his fiancee are completely vegetarian. my dad is a HUGE steak lover.. well, i love my steak too. so does dh. but last week was my dad's birthday so we're going to meet for dinner and i'm going to shove my face full of meat this weekend and love every moment of it. the steakhouse has some pasta dishes that can easily be converted, but i'm also considering calling ahead to see if they can't surprise my brother and his fiancee with something special, maybe portobello steaks with some kind of tofu something or other. no idea.
rheumatoid disease wise, i'm kind of existing. i've stopped all of my medications because of the upper respiratory infection. my rheumy said to just stop taking the enbrel, but i stopped the mtx too because i'm hoping to squeeze in a tattoo while switching to humira. and of course then my tattoo artist doesn't have an appointment that works well for me. damn it. the rheumy advised that i be off my meds for a week before and a week after a tattoo. when i first started on mtx and was still on prednisone, my artist did some touch up work that healed very well, just a little slower than normal. we're not doing heavy work, just background.
i get very upset because i have so many plans. there's finishing this stuff on my right forearm. i have 2 of 5 planned pieces on my right calf. the point was to have my entire calf covered. i have french angelfish on my upper chest and i wanted to do aquatic background on it. i wanted to do a large thigh piece (dr. frank n furter from 'the rocky horror picture show' in a gold frame with a banner that says 'don't dream it, be it'). and then my back. oh, my back. my entire back was going to be covered. i have a couple of small pieces that have to be covered, but i was thinking about doing a peacock. or maybe a disney thing. or something. that was the one that i was still trying to work on the ideas.
but i had so many plans. hours and hours and hours and hours of work. my artist has a light hand and i trust her. but i can't imagine doing all this an hour or so at a time. and i'd have to come off my medications for them? part of me just wants to say 'f*ck RD' and not take any medication for a year or so and get whatever i can done.
and then i sit here and type in pain. it's been two weeks since i took mtx, 2.5 weeks since enbrel which wasn't doing anything anyway. once i stop taking the mtx it's obvious that it was helping. not a lot, but a bit. and then i just get angry.
