day eighty eight

i've had a heck of a week.
i still am unable to get my rheumy's office and the specialty pharma on the same page.  luckily, at the eleventh hour, i decided to call aetna and verify the info.  i was originally told my enbrel would be delivered on wednesday.  i called tuesday night to verify and was told that was wrong - enbrel required prior authorization and they already faxed my rheumy's office.  the process would take 7-10 days.
i was due for my next dose wednesday.  the next day.
i rushed aetna off the phone and called my rheumy's office at exactly 4:57pm - they closed at 5pm.  i was able to get a nurse on the phone right away and gave her the very short version.  she put me on hold and said they had a few extra samples and i could pick them up on wednesday.
so wednesday i get to the rheumy's office and the front desk receptionist has no idea what i'm talking about.  after about 15 minutes she found a nurse who was like, oh yeah, and gave me two more auto pens.
thank goddess.
other than ra-and-insurance-related things, i've been busy.  i spent most of monday angrily on the phone with aetna, their mail order pharma, and their specialty pharma.  tuesday i interned from 9am-4pm.  wednesday i went to orientation at my new counseling job from 8-12:30, then did a bit of shopping with my hubby and got his flu shot - and my enbrel!  thursday was another intern day, this time from 9am-5pm.  and today was my first day of training at the new job - 8am-4pm.  so i worked or interned 25+ hours this week.  i haven't worked that many hours in a week in months.  i'm tired, but i feel pretty good. my interning schedule will probably be changing but i'm hoping to work 4 or 4.5 days a week and keep it around 30 hours.  i was completely fried working full time before i was diagnosed with ra.  it's always been hard for me to hold a full time job.  four days a week is usually my sweet spot, under 35 hours a week.
i'm very lucky that my husband's income is enough for us to live off of if we're careful.  we haven't been as careful as we should have been, so it's been rough, but if we really buckled down we'd be fine.  now that i'll have some income - even if it's only an extra $100 a week - it will definitely make a difference.  so that's exciting for me too, to feel like i'm contributing to the household again.  not that i sit around doing nothing, but my husband works so hard and i, well, wasn't.  it feels good.
