Day 89, morning

Today is day 89.  Yesterday I met my blue belt goal by attending class.  I again broke a black belt board in one strike.  It is always a bit of surprise when it breaks so easily, especially on the first strike.  It's fun though when everything comes together for it.
Some changes I have noticed in the last week is that when I cut my first knuckle of my finger on my grappling glove, it sealed and healed within just a couple days.  A wound like that before would have taken weeks to heal.  Same with a scratch I got from moving a tv to the garage.  It healed almost right away.  Three more spots on my scalp have finally gone away and I have just one area left and that appears to also be healing and on its way out. Though I won't hold my breath on that one because just when it appears to be completely clearing, it starts again.  Crossing fingers.
As of Sunday, I am on a week's vacation.  I was due for time off and had hoped to take off mid-September, but it seemed all the world conspired to make that an impossibility. :)  So I could take off right away or wait until October.  I decided to go right away.  I plan to stay home and do a bit of this and that and reading and maybe just take some stock of where I am in this process and figure out where I want to go.  This I hope will be a great opportunity for me and the time frame is really good leading into my 100th day.
On the flip side, and trying to combat any over-confidence.  This will be the first time I have had 9 straight days off in 2 years.  This will be the first time I have had this amount of time off since I quit drinking.  The former me would have been over the moon with 9 free days of drinking. I'd be hustling to the liquor store tonight or tomorrow happily loading up for the time off.  I need to be cautious and watch for those feelings and behaviors that may lead me toward something I absolutely do not want.  Where before a weekend seemed like a far reaching wide open desert of time I had to navigate without alcohol, standing on this side of nine days, I don't have that feeling.  I'm excited to have the time off.   I just want to be cautious within the nine days.  I do not drink.  I have moved out into other activities and I can use them to relieve or deal with any stresses that may arise.
For fun, too, I could practice my forms each day.  I did find them loaded on my laptop and I have the cleared space I made to practice.  I could also practice in the yard.  I have such a great opportunity in this time off to have fun, to relax, to enjoy.  I hope that I'll take advantage.  It's been a long while for me.
Today is day 89.  Starting Saturday at 430 pm, I am on vacation.  I am committed to making a life change, and I will use my vacation time to expand on this commitment.  I can now see the benefits of the changes I am making.   I do not drink.  I am the tree, not the leaves.  I am the mountain.  It is day 89 and I am solid.
